Trying to get combinations right

Hi-
I am doing an Atkins with a bit of Protein Power modified diet. That is because I have trouble understanding the way Atkins writes (all the hype and then the diet is a bit vague) - and got frustrated with him when he changed so much of the diet in his new book. I find the Eades book very easy to understand.

I am seeing that by using Fitday it is possible to refine the combinations of Fat versus carb versus protein pretty easily. Also, in reading some of these wonderful postings I have gotten some interesting ways to keep honest. For example:

Don't eat more that 10 g carbs in one meal
Don't eat more than 30 g protein in a meal or it will turn into sugar

Are there any others because these have helped me begin to refine my own diet for my own body. Thanks so much everyone for this great web site - it has helped me so very much!

i think that just learning what the LC veggies are helps a lot...then in a few months, it's easy to quit obsessing and having to enter every morsel in fitday.... you just eat meat or eggs, those veggies at two meals, and either a serving of berries or nuts/seeds in a day...easy way to stay on track. (at least for me it is!)

Good for you for reading more than one book! Knowledge is power. :)

Yikes! Where did you find this one? That's less than 4 ounces of meat. Sounds more like Weight Watcher's than a low-carb plan. I've read both Atkins and PP (though not the newer version of either) and don't remember anything like this. If this is correct, I've been doing it all wrong!

Do you remember the source of this information? Does anyone know if this is true?

This is not true (converting protein to sugar), in the absense of sufficient/high-carbs to complete this conversion. I think this has been explained in detail in Protein Power.

Phew! Thanks Wa'il!

I believe that it was in Dana Carpender's book "How I quit my low fat diet and lost 40 lbs." that it says the bit about 30g protein or it turns into sugar - Wa'Il could you please speak a bit more about this conversion and how it works?

I have looked in my PP book and still can't find it!
