ABDOMINALS!

Does anyone have any new ideas besides sit-ups for tightening the abs? After having two kids (both natural, not c-section) my lower abs are shot! I'm losing weight, but I still look like I have a big "pooch"....and it's the same "pooch" my mother had - I don't want it!!!!

Has anyone tried those "abdominizer" type things with the electrical impulses? Do they work? I'm not looking for a magic bullet (I know they don't exist), but I'm hoping for some new inspiration...... :daze: I know someone who is using one, but she was only a size 5 (and skinny in my opinion) when she started, so I don't have any "real life" testamonial to use......

Help!

Mindy, check the General exercise forum - there are some good articles about Ab work. Dan posted one with information on the best exercises to work different muscle groups and I posted a link to an Ab Bootcamp (with photos on how to do the exercises).

Just for your information, you cannot spot reduce - abs, butt or anything. Muscle definition is a function of % of body fat - you could have great muscles under your fat but until you lose the fat you'll never see them. The adage that Abs are made in the kitchen is true.

Thanks Nat - I guess I haven't checked out every corner of this website - I need to look into those areas.....

I didn't figure those electrical things really did any good, but you gotta have hope in your life, right? :p

If the abdominizer is that electric zapper thingie then yes, it's a gimick. For a muscle to grow it has to be stressed - it has to physically move something that causes trauma to it. If there were easy fixes we'd all look like the cover of Oxygen ;)

P.S. I moved this to the Exercise Forum - better exposure
