Fat v. Loss

I have heard that the more fat a person has in their diet, the more they loose. Has anyone had any experience with this and if so, what is the general amount of fat needed in a day?

I believe this is in reference to that fact that when one consumes more fat it is more satisfying therefore causing you to actually eat less. Compare the difference between eating a low fat salad versus a steak - which one will stick with you through the afternoon?

Not sure I would run to increase your fat intake. Maintain the carbs at 20 or more if you are in OWL and the fat should take care of itself.

It has worked that way for me. I am usually at around 70% fat sometimes as high as 73% for a day sometimes as low as 68%. I have seen the recommendation on the boards ranging from 65-70% fat. Ideally as you raise your carb levels you lower your fat intake. The idea being that when you are in ketosis your body switches from burning carbs for fuel to burining fat for fuel. You have to give your body ample fuel.

Good luck to you and wishing you continued success. :)

yes, if you are to base your diet off of, for reference let's use 2000 calories, and you make 75% of that fat, then you would lose weight faster if your remaining portion-25%- were mostly of protein, with the smallest part being complex carbs found in certain and mostly green vegetables. If you were to invert the process and use 25% fat, then have the remainder protein with a small portion as complex carbs, you might not lose weight as well if you have just anormal metabolism. There are 3 types of food-carbs, protein and fat- so low carbing is about dereasing your carbs and balancing the other two food parts.

I'm glad to hear this actually, since that huge green slice of pie chart (on my Fitday log) is pretty crazy looking.
I'm in recovery from low fat, I guess.
