Supplement Resources
Now that we have a Nutrition and Supplements forum I figured a list of resources would be a good idea.
Information on Supplements: Supplementwatch.com - information on supplements from A-Z, reviews of supplements, a newsletter - there is a members' only area that you can access if you join (25$ ). Wholehealthmd.com - Reference Libraries, 'expert' opinions and a vitamins/supplements section also from A-Z. EFA's - The Essential Fatty Acids Drumlib on Green tea and thermogenesis More to come. Hmmm ... it's likley that the site no longer exists. That happens a lot on the web ;) Thanks for pointing out the broken link, I'll edit the post above. Doreen |
The info on green tea was most helpful :) I knew I started drinking it for a good reason..LOL Thanks for posting this!

This is not an on-line resource but I consider Atkins Vita Nutrient Solution book to be excellent. ISBN 0-684-81849-3

Don"t be afraid to meet with a naturopath, most health store deal with them and they are specifically trained to help you with supplements needs, which ones are right for you and in what dosage. It may take time to find the right one, which can be a bit costly, but most private insurances cover the costs (In Canada).

Another great resource is http://www.consumerlab.com/. They test supplements to make sure they contain the ingredients they are supposed to, and they have a lot of information about supplements and which ones have good evidence that they work. Although some of the info on the site is available only by subscription, most of it is free.

Stack 5
Does anyone have much experience with this product (ephedra free)? thanks!
|
ephedra free effectiveness
To elaborate on what I posted, I have been able to buy stack II as it was not recalled for some time from where I live. As it has been recalled now I've bought Stack 5, an ephedra free product.
The first time I tried it I felt as though it had given me a boost before my workout but after a week realsie it is not doing so and what's more I've eaten the same foods and feel/see myself putting on weight. My clothes feel tighter. I'm distressed about it as workouts are not effective and I'm not at the same level of confidence in my appearance. Are there any suggestions on what I can do to again boost my metabolism and get back to being fit? |
More great info resources:
The Linus Pauling Institute has a Micronutrient page that includes many supplements. Very good information: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/contentnuts.html PDR Health has great science-based info on nutritional supplements: http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/...ugs/index.shtml And herbal medicines: http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/...ugs/index.shtml It has good sections on prescription and OTC drugs as well. |
What is the difference with green tea bags and green tea extract 300mg?
Hey PATRICA...nice to see a neighbour |

I just read my daughter's vitamins were tested and have too much lead in the batch she's taking. NEVER would have known unless I found this info. |
