Tuna Salad Carbs?

I was wondering if anyone knew if typical tuna salad that you buy in a deli has carbs? On fitday it says a cup of tuna salad has 20 carbs, but I was always under the impression tuna salad was simply tuna and mayo. Am I overlooking a carb ridden ingredient?

I'm not that knowledgeable about this, but I've heard that some places put sugar in their salads to improve the taste. Also, some of the preservatives they use may have carbs(?)

The deli that I go to has nutritional info on all their salads. Ask them if they have it available.

There are allot of resturants that use added sugar in there tuna salad. Some people also use Miracle Whip instead of mayo. Also it would depend on the type pickle they use if they use a sweet pickle or sweet pickle relish that is going to add allot of carbs right there. I would deffinantly ask them how they make there tuna salad and then decide what to have. You are always safest to make it on your own. How I make my tuna:
1 can tuna in oil (drained)
1 can tuna in water (drained)
2 eggs
chopped dill pickles
chopped celery
chopped onion
mayo
salt and pepper
I am sorry I don't messure my pickles and small ingredients. I love tuna though sometimes I shred some lettuce real fine and chop a small tomato and mix it right in the tuna and then just enjoy. :wiggle:

I always like home made best, anyway

That way, you know exactly what's in it, and the carb count.

I asked at Quick Check once and they checked the tuna salad container. It had sugar. Better to ask before you buy.

I agree, with anything pre made in the deli it is kinda risky. Just make it at home that way you can be sure...you will feel good about your goumet skills too!

I usually get TUNA with cheese on it for a meal...very good.

Tuna salad with cheese is a great meal.

I've been nuking tuna salad with cheese on top until the cheese is melted and then sliding it on top of a big green salad.

Its also great as a snack on top of those little cheese crackers (nuke cheese until crisp), then a little more cheese and nuke until top layer of cheese is melted. Very decadent and a few fill me up.
