Day 1 and I'm Determined

Hi there, I'm Meri and I'm a sugar addict ;-)
However, I have used the Atkins diet before with good success. I strayed away and had a husband who would not follow it or support my efforts to do so.

Now, I'm free of distractions, and unsupportive husband. Today, March 11th I started the induction diet again. My biggest challenge will be giving up chocolate--at least at first. But I am determined and I have lots of reasons for wanting this to be a success.

Not only do I want to lose weight, but Type II diabetes runs in my family. So this very much for my own health as for outside appearances or anything like that.

Hi Meri!
Welcome to the forum!
I used to be an absolute chocoholic - never thought I could give it up. But guess what - it hasn't really been that hard. (Apart from the couple of times my beloved SO has bought some and when it's there under my nose...
I take regular chromium and L-glutamine which definitely help control sugar cravings.
Meri, it's always a good idea to keep a journal - that way others can give you guidance and cheer you on. The journals are kept alphabetically (under the first letter of your user name) on the main page of the forum.
I look forward to hearing more from you.
Cheers.

Welcome aboard!

You've definitely come to the right place for good information and lots of support.

Definitely start a journal and, above all else, commit yourself to a permanent change in your way of eating and way of life.

Cheers.

Hi Meri....I'm Meri!

I restarted Atkins 3 days ago. And some of your challenges were mine also. I just tested and I am in deep ketosis. I usually struggle at this point, and really want to succeed like you. I am taking the plunge and getting into more threads and beginning a journal. I think it will really help. the more support and awareness the more success I suspect! Welcome and good luck to us both! Meri
