Atkins Bake Mix v's GNC Soy Bake Mix

Hello again,
Got some more questions for ya. I'm really interested in learning more about ingredients because I recognise I am going to have to learn these things if this WOE is going to become my WOL. I have purchased some GNC Soy Baking Mix for a recipe I got from Carb lite called "It tastes like your cheating chicken but you're not" (think it's meant to be locarb version of KFC only homemade) anywayyyyyyyyyy I have this other recipe for "Hamburger Onion Pie" also from Carb Lite and this recipe is asking for "Atkins Bake Mix". I know I can buy this from GNC also but I was wondering what you guys/gals thought of using the GNC soy baking mix instead of the Atkins Bake Mix???? Would I be making a BIG TASTE mistake if I did that???? What is the difference between the two?
Sorry to ask, it's just that I understand so little about the things we use in baking like flours, cornflour, baking powders/mixes etc and what role they play in the cooking/baking.
Anyway, thanks for your help! You're advice is helping transform me :o)
Bye for now!

Okay here is the link for the Hamburger Onion Pie just incase that can help someone to answer my question about whether GNC Soy bake mix would subsitute for Atkins Bake mix.
Thanks!

i do believe they are the same except GNC's is cheaper. here's a recipe to make your own:

2 cups soy protein isolate powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
11/2 teaspoons baking powder

the problem i found with the atkins/gnc stuff is it's way too expensive and i didn't like the taste. everyone's different though.

Hi Samblam

I agree the Aitkins products are yuck. In fact they actually stalled/stop some people.
Baking in LC is really for special times only - you aren't going to learn the WOL right if you try and do all the subs first off. Stick with cooking things fresh, don't use processed things for a month until you get going. It only confuses.
That said the home mix recipie that Sambalam has provided is really good Look see somewhere there is a recipie for savory muffins in this site that we have all used and varied which is SO good....
Sambalam, whats happened to Gizmo's site - seems to have died.

I have tried both GNC and Atkins - similar price and similar make up - think the GNC is slightly lower in carb, but not much. Products made seem to be the same

not sure about gizmo's site (POH?) guess he's busy.

Nah it was off the air for us up here for all of yesterday - came alive about 4pm. Must have been the severe storms in Sydney that knocked the server out.
Cheers
