Very interesting. Good example of a good idea gone very wrong.
From what I've read, both in this article and in others, estrogen is not the hormonal equivalent of satan..it has it's purposes and uses and may benefit some women for short-term relief of some severe menopausal symptoms, but I don't believe that long-term use is, will or has ever been beneficial to women.

I knew there was a good reason why I stopped my HRT. My Dr. said it was necessary, but I never felt right about it. I'll never take them again. I didn't need them through menopause, but Dr. convinced me it would help prevent osteoporosis.

Menopause is natural. It's what our (female) bodies are designed to do. Teenagers suffer all sorts of problems due to fluctuationg hormones, too. I don't agree with taking BCP just to even out a girl's mood and I don't agree with menopausal women taking HRT. The whole thing just seems so unnatural, like we're constantly fighting our bodies.

And it seems that since they don't know the long-term effects, we are the long-term study on the effects of many of the drugs out there. I'm all for advancements in medical research, esp. in cancerr and heart issues.
But, who knows what will happen to teenager on BCP, 30-40 years down the road.. What did they really know when then they started pushing HRT?? :thdown:
