BBQ Pork Rinds...

I found BBQ pork rinds at the Piggly Wiggly today and they are really good. I almost ate the whole bag, so now I'll retain water and the scale will disappoint me, so maybe I won't weigh tomorrow and drink lots and lots of water.
The pig had salt and vinegar flavor too, but that kinda of scares me!!!

Happy Day Friday tomorrow!!!!
(stop raining please)

OMG the Salt and Vinegar are my favorite!! YUM!!

But I'm afraid of water retention, so I haven't had pork rinds in ages!!

Isnt it funny that "Piggly Wiggly" sells pork rinds? I mean, it is like canabolism or something. Anyway, I eat a TON of pork rinds...hmmm, maybe THAT is my problem. I may be holding 100 pounds of water! Yeah, that's the ticket.

LOL Allen, you're a riot!

I love pork rinds! I haven't ventured to the flavored kind, but the regular ones aren't bad either. I usually melt some shredded cheese on them and dip it in sour cream and salsa, sometimes I top it with taco meat and olives. It's a lifesaver when other people are eating nachos!

just a question

I've heard POrk rinds can stall some people. Is this true for any of you on the board?? I am assuming if one eats a small portion it should be ok, its when u eat the whole bag that might cause a problem??

Mac,

I don't think it is the actual Pork Rinds that make you stall but the sodium that makes you retain water. A high amount of sodium will do that!!

LOL Cannibalism. That's funny.

I go through a ton of pork rinds. I use them in the place of croutons on my salads, chips for nachos and even as a snack. I buy the plain ones, though, and then pour about 1/2 a bottle of hot sauce over them. They're yummy that way. Be sure to drink LOTS of water, though, if you're going to eat them. Otherwise you'll be retaining water like the Hoover Dam!

Gotcha! So those darn things are loaded with sale are they.. darn I am not a fan of salt. I don't like the taste, never have used it. Do they sell unsalted rinds??

Snacking

I'm not at a point where I feel comfortable allowing myself to snack. Aside from a few nuts every day, I abstain. I also do not care for pork rinds. The problem with things like that is just what seems to be happening to other people too. That snacking is an excuse to overeat. And that will be anyone's downfall on any diet. Please be circumspect with what you allow yourself to eat.

Good Luck!

Teuthis

You do have a valid point. I did make a decision to not only do this diet to lose some weight but to feel better and really rid my diet of over processed foods. I decided I wouldn't have deli meats, or hot dogs and little if any convenience packaged foods. So I guess i won't quite resort to pork rinds till I really can't stand not having a crunchy "junk food" that won't cause too much havoc on my sugar levels. I think I'll treat the pork rinds like a legal "cheat food" for drastic times LOL ..

I have several bags of both plain and the spicy.....darn I wish they had bbq here!!! The spicy is so hot, 2 rinds and I'm done!!!!
Now the plain, well those are so versatile that I keep those on hand but I don't live on them either.

two bags for one

Busymomma,
I can send you some bbq rinds if you'd like. They have buy one get one free here at the Piggly Wiggly. They are really good and not hot like the spicey kind.

Weighed today....not gonna tell !!!! I don't want to jinx myself.
I'm gonna try to not weigh again until MOnday.

Lovin' those Piggly Wiggly pork rinds!

If you liked salt and vinegar chips pre-Atkins, you'll like salt and vinegar pork rinds. Our Piggly Wiggly carries BBQ, Hot, S&V, and Plain. I keep bags at home and at work. I'm not ready to test my willpower by not having a legal snack available, especially the flavors that taste like junk food! I was never a chip freak before, so I find that just a few pork rinds will satisfy me now. I think these are fantastic!

Are we talking about the crispy puffy pork rinds that are like potato chips??? I had no idea that we could eat them, I did not see them in the book. Is it ok to eat them on induction? and how much is too much??

Thanks

Robert

Robert, They have no carbs and yes they are talking about the puffy chip like things. I've had them a few times in small amounts....I'm not positive but if you DO want them just try to have a small amount if you are still in induction.

More Seasoned lc-ers could better answer that question.
