Fat fast

I'm doing the fat fast (in the DANDR book, p 272 ff I think), eating 90% fat at the moment. Today is day four and I've lost 5 lbs. Obviously the fat fast is not a true WOE but I have to say, it's great for breaking a stall. I had a week where I GAINED two pounds despite doing everything perfectly (I confirmed the weight gain repeatedly over several days to make sure it wasn't water or a defective scale) and I was feeling discouraged. Now I'm feeling like I can do this again.

You do have to watch your calories on the fat fast: no more than 1,000 per day. But trust me, it's actually HARD to get your calories as high as 1,000 cal/day when you're eating tablespoonfuls of mayonnaise to keep your fat as high as 90% -- too disgusting to eat more!

I've heard folks say that the fat fast makes 'em sick. I'm fine with it so far -- doing much, much better than I was during the transition to this WOE -- but then my carbs were quite low leading up to the fat fast, so maybe that helped my body adjust. I'm exercising and have plenty of energy.

Anyway, if anyone's in a stall, or feeling discouraged, it's something to think about. Dr. A says it's DANGEROUS to do the fat fast unless you're truly metabolically resistant, which I don't think I technically am, but I was frustrated enough to take the risk. (I mean, come on --- a GAIN of two pounds when I had done NOTHING to deserve it?)
