Nuts-not going but eating

to those of you more experienced at atkins than myself,
out for a walk with the dog this a.m, needed a snack, bought brazil nuts-i really wanted crisps but they r no go as far as i am concerned.carbs 3g, fibre 5g per 100g.does this therefore make it a zero net carb count? am i right in deducting fibre from carbs for a net carb count?
i won't go nuts on nuts but they r a useful snack once or twice a week-i'm still on 20g carbs a day

Hi Dolli

Go read the sticky about carb counting in the UK at the top of this forum.

In the UK we do not subtract fibre, so those Brazils are 3 g carbs per 100g. They are a great snack, even if high in calories.

thanks for the reply-i need to go back and do a complete recount cos i have been deducting fibre from carbs.the weight is coming off but as the months go by and i have less to lose the weight loss will start slowing down.
what are people's average carb intake and still dropping the pounds? i'm a bit wary of going too far above the 20g mark as i've been so encouraged by my weightloss so far and do not want to lose the momentum.

Peoples carb level varies a lot. I stayed with 20 for around a year, but I think I kept it to low for too long. I actually started to lose weight quicker when I increased it to 30. Now I tend to eat up to 50 a day and the weight is still coming off, all be it slowly. However, I don't think that lowering the carbs again will quicken the weight loss. What you have to do is get the right amount to balance the insulin with the other hormones in your body.
