Low Carb products

Hello Everyone !!

I am new here and wish to ask a few questions.

I live between Thunder Bay Ontario and Winnipeg Ontario and am looking for some food I can Eat!!! HE HE HE

I keep reading about the hot cereal and syrups and I think I would really enjoy them.

I know I can order them on line but when I tried 3 bags of cereal and 2 syrups were $100 ++++ not including the additional 50% I have to add for exchange.

I really do not mind having to pay a little bit extra but I can just about by groceries for the seek for my family of 4!! If you know what I mean!

Any ways anyone have any ideas for me?

I would really love the input.

I'm from Quebec and i'm in the same situation you are. There is no low carb products anywhere to be had (that I've seen anyway).

Doesn't matter much to me really. I consider them to be crutches, especially the sugar substitutes. I think we need to loose our sweet tooth, not maintain it with artifical chemicals.

When I want something sweet, I opt for a fruit. After you wean yourself off the really sweet stuff, a fruit tastes very sweet indeed.

If I must use a sweetener i use fructose, which is much lower on the glycemic scale than the regular sugars. But it's still a carb, so it teaches me that I must use it sparingly thus the weaning process continues.

I am really concerned by all this reliance people seem to have on artifical products. We all acknowledge that years of eating low-fat/high sugar snacks made us unhealthy. I just don't think that replacing these snacks with high-fat/fake sugar will make us much healthier in the long run.

One indulgence I am going to allow myself however is some low carb bread. I found a recipe on another site that is said to be excellent. It requires however some hard to find ingredients which i've ordered from my local natural food store. It doesn't sound all that bad really because it's made of natural food and also integrates some really healthy things like flax seeds

Actually, I was looking more fore the low carb baking 'flour' and devinci syrups for a treat in my coffee and also bread. I was also thinking along the lines of the hot creal for breakfast as well. I did try the bars and I think it may have helped me not loose as much and like you said I had to deal with the sweet thing and I now bars free and doing great.

I found a co-op in Vancouver that imports low carb stuff from the USA in bulk and sends it to people from Canada

Hi, ladies.

I'm the "co-op" from Canada mentioned. Just thought you'd like to know there's a Forum here called the LowCarb Co-op, that's the place to see product announcements of what's new and available... like the Keto products announcement just recently... or just float your mouse over the logo below in my signature line, and you'll see it's an active link to the LowCarb FoodExperts Canada webpage, 1-click and you're there.

The new and MUCH easier to remember web address is now:
http://www.LowCarbCanada.com

By the way, many stores are now adding low carb products to their shelves... be sure to let your local stores know what specific products you're interested in, and they, too, will eventually succumb to market pressure!

Tell 'em I sent you!

Thanks Judi !

I was thinking of presenting a "wish list" to my local health food store in the hope he would stock some of more interesting low-carb items. But it's a slim hope. I can't even get my hands on vital wheat gluten, less alone the more esoteric stuff out there.
