Help, I've fallen....and I can't get up

Hi group,

Remember that commercial where the lady falls and can't get up? It was to sell a device for home monitoring.

I got fired from my job last Monday. For the past week, I have been trying to remain sane and doing things in as logical a manner as I could. Among other things, I took a flight to Texas to visit my grandchildren. (Nothing makes me feel better than rocking a todler to sleep).

Since it was a last minute trip, I did not make meal provisions ahead of time. I also went throught a few mental "What the Hell"s and ate things like real pizza, restaurant bread, chili, tortillas, real coffee and real ice cream.

I got home yesterday and it appears as though the scale has not changed dramatically. My big problem now is going to be "detoxing" and going back on plan. I don't know if I have the willpower to resist junk and go back on induction.

Any inspirational success stories out there?

Thanks

You can do it! Just do it! Really you were LUCKY the scale was kind! Get back on track and live your life.

Being fired is a major blow. Don't punish your body too!

Wishing you well.

Hang in there! Do the positive things that you can do for yourself. Stick with Atkins. Exercise. Maybe spend some of your time putting things in order, if there are any. I'm not sure how long my job will be around, as major changes are going on at my work. But I intend to stick to a healthier lifestyle, no matter what happens.

Good luck!

Hang in there. If you need motivation ~ then think of how you want to look when you go in for a interview for a new job. That should be motivation enough. Good luck!

All right MrEWorm, let's do this together. I recently fell off the wagon too, and have been struggling to get back on plan. The scale thankfully has been kind to me as well, but now I am dealing with the cravings, and boy do I hear ya about the *what the hell's*, I hear them in the back of my head all day! Ugh.

We've done it once, we can do it again. I bet in about 3 days, if we stick to it, it will be smooth sailing again. Best of luck to you, I'll be watching for your update!

Thanks for the encouragement. Being at home, the obsession to eat crap can be quite strong, especially now that I have partaken of high carb/sugar foods again. So far today, I'm staying on plan.

At least the days are getting warmer (39 degrees today). I took some idle time today to go out for a 5 mile bike ride. The heart rate monitor showed that I averged 150 for 25 minutes. It felt great!

I would always rather ride outside than tethered to my basement trainer. If I'm off for awhile, and the weather stays nice, I'll gradually work up to 20 miles a day.

Mr EWorm, be kind to yourself. Yes I remember the ad, HAHA. Be kind to yourself as that is one heck of a blow, losing your job. Mine went away and no longer exists, and i liked it!! :-( Anyway, now it's time to start focusing on your new you. Take your time and maybe avoid airplane travel (and food) until you have a steady income again :-) Good Luck and keep us posted!

You can !

Hey-

I recently went on a trip to Washington D.C. with people who could care less about Atkins and made no provisions for me. I fell off the wagon as well. I'm back and I'm getting back on the horse. The cravings are crazy. I know what helps me is if I have cravings, I just eat acceptable foods. Not LC junk food but I tear into some meat, eat some skins, tuna, whatever is legal. Instead of reaching for the sugar filled stuff. You'll be back on in no time. Remember this isn't a diet it's a WOL. WE all can do this. STAY POSITIVE! THINK ON THE GOOD THINGS THAT WILL BW COMING TO YOU AS THIS DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY AND POSSIBILITY IS NOW OPENED. You never know, being fired could have been a set up for something much greater....and to echo the other poster....you'll look great when it does come.

Keep the faith. I've been where you are.

The stress and the free time together can be difficult, but take that free time as an opportunity focus, to work out twice as much, and try a few new lo carb receipes.

Heck, once you're back at work you'll be back to having to exercise AFTER a hard day at work.

GL in your job search.

I'm in the position that so many people are....looking for a new job while working at one I dislike. There are so many things out of my control....sending off resumes and letters to people who don't know me and pre-judge me over what they see on a piece of paper, looking for job openings every day.
But one thing I CAN control is what I put in my mouth. Since taking control of my eating habits I've GAINED a feeling of self-mastery (while dropping a few pounds). So climb back on the wagon. Take control! Today your plate! Tomorrow, the world!
