Splenda in Diet Sodas
I'm confused  the DANDR says it's OK to drink diet beverages made with Splenda but be sure to count the carbs for the Splenda. Then I read a thread yesterday that said the diet sodas were made with LIQUID Splenda and had NO carbs, and that only the granular Splenda had carbs. Can someone please clarify???

As much as I understand the liquid Splenda is in its purest state and dosn't have any carbs at all. However, when the put it into powder form they have to use some kind of filler to puff it out to make the powder form. That filler or puffer is what adds the carb. As far as I know you can't buy the liquid splenda but you can buy the powdered stuff. The liquid stuff is what you find in the diet soda's and such.
Hope this helps, Tammy |
Thanks, I do understand that but I still want to know, DO WE COUNT CARBS FOR THE LIQUID SPLENDA IN DIET SODAS OR NOT?

Whoops, guess I left that part out. No, you don't.

I'm with Mr Mel on this one. I've read in the book numerous times that he says to count the splenda drinks, however he doesn't give you a guide on it - maybe there is just a misunderstanding in what he meant to write. This is what I do: I count each drink as 1 gram of carb to give it a value.

I was wondering some examples of drinks made with splenda and where to get them. I know of Diet Rite and that is great...but I can only get the cola one are there other flavors and where do you find them???
Thanks |
Yes, Diet Rite makes a Tangerine soda, too.

Jessica,
You aren't missing out on anything. The Diet Rite Cola is the only one worth drinking. The others have a nasty aftertaste-and you have to really want something other than cola to drink it. |
