question about eating & drinking

Could someone please tell me if it is better to eat and then wait 3 hrs. before I have an alcoholic beverage? or does it matter? I am concerned about sending the food I've just eating to my fat stores ....
Thanks,
Jess

Personally, I wouldn't drink on an empty stomach.

I realize that I'd feel it faster but either that or taking all the food to my fat stores....hmmmm...

Any other advice/suggestion or personal experiences out there greatly appreciated...!
Thank you,
Jess

I'm happy to relay a story from my college days:

The higher the alcohol content, the more likely it would be better for your stomach if you had some food in there. On night when I was at college, my roommate drank straight JD (no mixers) and it burned his stomach linning. Really messed him up for a few days, couldn't hold any food down. I don't think you will drink that much, and I'm not trying to scare you. Just be careful.

Add lots of water to prevent dehydration. :)

Have a good time too.

From my experience, never drink on empty stomach...especially when low carbing...it will go to your head faster. If you do eat while you drink, be careful what you eat...stay lower fat if you can because the alcohol will burn first and what you eat may just not be burned up thus adding to your weight. Also, remember to drink AT LEAST an extra quart of water after your alcoholic consumption because alcohol dehydrates and that will give you one nasty hangover.

Yeah, I would not drink on an empty stomach either... goes to the head faster, but also I feel like total crap later. I had half a glass of wine last week before dinner and by the end of the evening my head was THROBBING. And I used to be able to put down a bottle with no problem...

I think if your worring about your fat stores, you really have no worries as long as your drinks are non-carb drinks. So, as long as you don't go crazy and start throwing down Strawberry Daiquiris I think your fat stores will be just fine. Now then, if you're trying kick off the night and get a buzz as fast as possible don't eat for at least 4-6 hours kick back a couple of rum and cokes...err.. that would be Diet Coke and you'll be well on your way! :wiggle:

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys for your replies....I was almost not going to eat during my "party time" but am going to go with your advice... :) Yvonne, yes, low fat sounds like the best thing to do also.

One thing I have noticed, it is very easy to get "Cheap Date Syndrome". Alcohol hits me harder and faster now.

Atriana- Same here. That half a glass of wine last week left me a little more tipsy than I would have preferred to be at a business meeting! Fortunately, everyone else was worse off than me ;)
