sorbee
has anyone tried these chocolate bars? Carbs 6.98, but 6.65 maltitol so that means very low carb right? I found them at zellers.
|
Haven't tried them. Maltitol is a sugar alcohol so the carbs 'aren't supposed to' affect losing. But they may. Read the article in "Low carb tips" - see the orange stripe at the top of this page.
The sugar alcohols also have an interesting side effect: they are POWERFUL laxatives. So don't exceed the recommended serving size. |
I've tried one. Not as good as the Ross chocolate bars. I only tried the milk chocolate one...it just seems like it's not chocolatey enough for me.

You're very kind :) They have these at Walmart too, with the diabetic stuff. They aren't merely "not as good as Ross" ... they're absolutely HORRID. Blecchhh! Waxy texture that didn't melt in the mouth like real chocolate should, it was like a square of parrafin that just sat there on my tongue. And poor quality, fake chocolate taste. Never again  Cavalier bars are quite possibly the best tasting sugar-free chocolate bars I've tasted, although expensive. Russell Stover's chocolates, peanut butter cups etc are tasty, but since I discovered they're made with hydrogenated fats I don't find them quite as appealing. :( Doreen |
They are a waste of money, unless you like bad tasting chocolate. Ross is definitely the best I have had so far. When I bought the sorbee, I was excited, because they were so big, but that's were my desire for them ended.

lol ok Doreen...maybe I was being too kind. I did eat the whole bar over time...but I would never buy another one.
I too, like blueowl, bought it because it was big. Just goes to show you...bigger isn't always better. |
I too bought one at Zellers and wasn't impressed with the taste either. I broke it up and put it in with the Atkins Banana Bread mix and it tasted okay in there.
Where can I buy Ross chocalates in Ontario? Allison |
Are there Shoppers in Ontario? If so, they're cheap there,
lowest I've seen. Online there's a Canadian site that has them, http://www.lowcarbfooddepot.com FWIW, I bought some Sorbee bitesize peanutbutter cups at London Drugs (sorry can't remember the carbs, but it must be low or I wouldn't have bought them) that I thought were pretty good. I actually liked them better than Atkins Endulge PB cups. Maybe the PB cuts out the bad tasting chocolate, who knows? |
I usually get my Ross chocolates at Shoppers too. I've also seen them at Walmart here in Kelowna...I would think Ont walmarts would have them too. I'm not sure on the price

Best Low Carb Chocolates
I've tried a number of low carb chocolates, the best to date are Pure de-Lite. They are amazing...if you like dark chocolates they are 0 Carbs. The only place i've been able to find them is through: http://www.cdnf.com/cat3_1.htm
They have a good selection, my favourite is the choc/coconut, 3.8g carbs for the whole bar...yummy |
I haven't tried the Sorbee chocolates yet, but if they are anything like their cookies, I won't be trying them anyway... The cookies are the most horrid tasting thing I have ever had... I couldn't get rid of the after taste for hours afterwards... Not sure what it is, but the Sorbee cookies are not worth the money IMHO....
Good Luck! ~Lori |
if you have russell stovers candy in canada look for their sugar free stuff. it is excellent - tastes like the real thing - but watch it - sometimes they are too good.
|
Sorbee's ok?! That's great. They have sorbee gummy candy in the bulk section at Dominion and at some candy stores. I'm going to get candy!
