Beans--does fiber count tell whole story?

My question is simply this: Carbo-Curb and product similar to it claim to be able to cut the amount of carbs actually digested through the use of an extract from the common white kidney bean, provided that you take it ~30 minutes prior to eating. Not debating the validity or lack thereof of such a claim, it would seem to me that there probably is some merit to the claim, but that isn't my point.

It just seems to me that, whether you are talking about "phaseolin", or the largely indigestible oligosaccharides (which feed certain bacteria that produce the copious quantities of gas that beans are infamous for), or both, that there ought to be a lot less net carbs in beans than simply subtracting the fiber carb count from the total indicates.

Based on my own personal experience, I still experienced weight loss even when the net carb content based on fiber subtraction alone, of the beans I was eating would have indicated that I was over my ~60grams/day break-even point, for several days running. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? Have there been any studies done to indicate that there is more going into the "bean net carb equation" than simply the miniscule amount of indigestible fiber in beans?
