"Weary of fads? March to G.I." (Chicago Suntimes article)

Grrr... we are not a "fad". And PLEASE don't mix us up with Jenny Craig and WW!! Dawn |
A diet book author calling Atkins or Weight Watchers fads?
Isn't that kind of like Christina Aguilera saying Janet Jackson is a bit trashy? |
Admittedly, I just skimmed the article. But. Did I understand it right? They want people to avoid "fads" like Atkins, for a diet that hasn't even been around as long as Atkins?

"Q. What are some examples of food with high and low glycemic indexes?
A. Low G.I. foods include most fruits and vegetables, grains, low-fat dairy and nuts. High G.I. foods include items that are processed --doughnuts, granola bars, white bread, fruit juices and sweetened juices. You should definitely stay away from anything processed ... anything that comes from a manufacturer. It is always better to eat the fruit than drink the juice. " I consider low-fat dairy to be a processed food item. And grains have to be processed to be digestible. We don't go out into the fields and much on the fresh unprocessed grains. |
