Is fruit or fruit juice part of your low-carb diet?

Hello
On CAD at my Reward Meal I have fruit.
|
No fruit juice, but I will have an occasional melon or strawberry.
|
No juice...but, I will eat watermelon, canteloupe, tangerines, oranges, strawberries, and/or raspberries once a week or so. I LOVE fruit. Fruit and Red Meat are the two foods I could never live without.
|
yup, everyday!!
I have four or five strawberries in my homemade protien shake every morning! That's about 2 or 3 carbs, not bad. I lovvvveeee fruit. |
Mmmm... strawberries with yogurt or a dash of cream! And I'm looking forward to raspberries and blueberries.
|
I occasionally have some orange (2 wedges), berries, 1/2 of a peach, a few melon balls and tomato juice (4 oz). But I have to watch the quantities and definitely count the carbs (my carb limit is 28 per day). I only eat these 2x a week at most and never in 2 consecutive days because I have fallen out of ketosis when eating fruit 2 days in a row. But of course, everyone metabolizes fruit differently.

V8 Diet Splash- Yum!
I drink V8 Diet Splash as it is made with Splenda. It's a yummy treat when I need a fruity drink. I don't make this a habit as they run $3 a bottle.
I have incorporated strawberries w/ yogurt here lately. Blueberries are coming into season here so I will be having a few. We also have blackberries all over the place on our property that grow wild. I plan to make some fruity dishes with them. I eat fruit in moderation. My concern is the boost of sugar that starts cravings. I can really tell when I have a food that has a higher glycemic value because I will start craving carbs. HTH, Tanya |
Yes fruit is definitely a big part of my diet, but no juice whatsoever...
I'll usually eat a pear or some strawberries each day and I also eat fresh berries with my plain full fat yogurt almost everyday... |
I eat fruit regularly, but not juice, which is basically flavoured sugar water with natural vitamins in it. My favourite fruits are:
Doreen p.s. - I do also indulge in berries occasionally, or slice of melon, maybe half a grapefruit or a fresh peach when they're in season ;) |
Well since about week 5 or so I have introduced fruit, blueberries, strawberries, cantalope, honey dew melon. I have 1-2 servings a day now with no effects.
As well when I slice up an apple for my son each day, 2-3 times a week, I'll just slice off about a 1/2 " slice, same with the oranges I just take 1-2 sections. thats all I need :p I don't think I could have stuck so well to this woe, if not for the fruit. No juices though, I think that might be too much sugar for me all at once. Cheers Kathy |
I eat berries (raspberries, blackberries or strawberries) nearly every day and it does not appear to have affected my loss.
I'm just getting ready to carefully introduce some other fruits, too -- apples, peaches, etc. Haven't had juice in 3 months, and don't plan to add that back in. Much healthier to get your fruit from whole sources. K. :) |
I do eat some berries (raspberries or strawberries) occasionally, but usually only when they're in season.
When they're out of season, I'll occasionally get some frozen strawberries, thaw them out, mash them and make a jello salad with them to help spread them out over 6 or 8 servings. Generally, it's much better to have whole fruit than juice because juicing removes the fiber and concentrates the sugars...not a good idea. |
I eat strawberries and blueberries every now and then.

:Puke: sorry eggplant, olives and avocados are not my idea of a treat. I do like tomato, cucumbers though. My favorite treat is strawberries and apples. |
