Hi! I'm doing Slimming World which is very similar to Montignac in that it is low GI and separates protein/fats from carbohydrates. Which plan have you settled on?

well I'm doing I guess both ( montignac and somersizing) they are the same actually
I don't truly see the weight loss I just feel happy because I eat good food and groups I haven't eaten for a while ( such as carbs, the good ones) I love cereal and crackers so including them again is just great the downfall I believe is no putting oil in the pasta or cheese ion the rice, but i can live without them.... :) I never heard about the diet you mentioned How are you doing with it? are you doing it to lose weight or just to eat better Thanks bye bye |
Slimming World is one of those commercial diets where you go to a weekly group meeting. It only exists in the UK. Basically you do original (or red) days which are based on protein and green days which are based on carbohydrate.
It is also low GI and generally low fat. It is very similar to montignac and also the hay system. Many people do alternate days. I tend to do mostly red days (after many years on Atkins I've gotten used to lots of meat!) and an occasional green day so my body doesn't get too used to it. I've also done montignac in the past and found I enjoyed it and lost weight on it. I enjoyed eating fruit - even if it was on an empty stomach. I am trying to lose weight and be fitter too. |
carbs are great but sometimes addictive
I found myself happy but eating quite a lot of carbs and my belly got bigger
I dont need to lose a lot of weight but it's definitely easier through protein diets although I'd prefer to stick to montignac/somersizing way Not sure how to continue.... I may follow something similar to what you say Mostly proteins and sometimes a carb what do you usually have for breakfast? and as a mid afternoon snack? Thanks |
Fellow Somersizer here :wave: Been Somersizing on and off for the past 4 years...just got back on track ...again. Love to cook so I've tried alot of the recipes in the books as well as modified others recipes to Somersizing.

I started montignac and then somersizing, thinking they were almost the same, it seems they are not
I personally think somersizing will work better for me, because I have digestive problems when I eat fruits with something else ( and montignac allows cooked fruit with meals) and also I gain weight when I eat more than a carbo meal a day ( which tends to be breakfast) I'd love to eat more carbo meals, specially rice. I love rice!!!!! but it's just not working for me I am a cook, so cooking is a passion for me too We can share recipes and tips on the diet =) Bye bye PS by the way if you want to write to me directly please do it to loni_3~yahoo.com thanks! |

Do you have any of the somersizing books? I use a lot of recipes from all her books. I made the Pork tenderloin with sage last night from the Getting Skinny book. It was great!! Had smashed cauliflower and steamed green beans with it. And we have left overs for this weekend. As for the fruit, I only eat fruit in the mornings after I first wake up on an empty stomach. I try to keep my carbo meals at breakfast too if I'm going to have one. But if you use the my plan on this board to track your food intake...you will see that with the veggies and other foods you will get carbs in your diet...just the right ones and at the right percentage. So what do you like to eat other than rice lol? If you need menu advice, please check out my plan... |

well I love cheese and wine! jajajaj beans and mostly carbs except pasta, I'm not a big pasta lover I adore pizza and I dont eat it now what I do eat is everything else ( a lot) jajajaj Luckily I'm a big big veggie eater and yourself? |
I love meat...steaks, chicken, fish, lamb....I miss potatoes and rice dishes. And since I'm Italian...not having pastas for me is sometimes hard. But I have found ways to have lasagna low carb with using egg crepes as the noodles and making it that way. Yum!! I have chicken parmesan low-carb with herbed pork rind crumbs instead of regular bread crumbs with zucchini alfredo.
I really stay away from all the low-carb processed foods as much as possible. The only thing I really eat that is processed are South Beach frozen meals...but only if there aren't leftovers from dinner the night before. I snack on string cheese or celery and whipped cream cheese at work. I bought George Stella's books and he has a recipe for pizza using soy flour. I haven't tried it yet and although it's not totally Somersized, I don't think it's a huge imbalance but I do want to wait until I've lost more weight and gotten thru the first couple of weeks back on somersizing before introducing an imbalance. My other downfall is wine...I'm an avid wine collector. I've been trying to stick to whites right now as they are lower in carbs than red. But I only have 1 glass a week and with a meal that I've prepared with the same wine. And I don't fill the glass up either LOL. But the Stella books have some snacks in them that are somersizing friendly..like Goldfish crackers made out of american cheese and some spices or his cheddar cheese crisps...I'm planning on trying out some of these recipes so I can have some snacks. |

well I'm originally Argentinean so i love meet too =) I'll check George Stella's website, I may do the recipes too I love to cook and I go in the kitchen and just try to create, mostly it works jajajaj apples, or cheese string work for me as snacks wine? well I may drink wine 2 times a week, I try to do only one glass as you say... For pizza, I tried grilling a bit zucchini slices or eggplant, as well as thin steaks of meet or pork with some seasoning and add on top anything you like in pizzas, it worked for me bye bye =) |
