On Atkins, you count the carbs - the rest falls in place pretty much by itself. Roughly, it works out to around 70% fat, 25% protein, 5% carbs.
During induction, stay at 20 grams of carbs - most from green veggies - and don't eat anything that's not on the list of allowed foods.

thats right, for induction, you should mainly be concerned with keeping your carbs at 20g.

If you lurk around in peoples journals you will also notice that overtime people begin to tweak here and there to suit their needs. If you are really active, for example, you will probably want to increase your carbs over time, this is also what you will be guided to do through OWL and Maintenance.

Atkins is really good initially, I found, for helping to control your sugar cravings. I cant believe how much I used to snack on stuff before doing Atkins, now that I understand how insulin works etc, it is so much easier to NOT eat baked goods, candies, AND too much chocolate!!!

Hang in there, and always be kind to yourself through this journey, it is a way of life and will take some time to make your changes.

cheers,
d
