Triscuits?
I have been eating triscuits as an occasional snack lately because they are a whole wheat product but I noticed the other day on the side of the box that the ingredients included "partially hydrogenated soybean oil". Seem like I read somewhere that hydrogenated is a bad thing. Can anyone hip me to this?
Thanx, Jim :D |
Switch to Wasa crackers. They're a more natural alternative, and more fiber.
I'll get back to you on the hydrogenated fat unless someone beats me to it. Karen |
Thank you
Hi Karen,
Thank you for the reply. I have tried Wasa in the past and will go back to it if the Triscuits turn out to be too big of a no-no. I chose the Triscuits over the Wasa as a matter of flavor so that right there should tell me that the Triscuits are probably bad for me. :D ;) BTW, loved your web site. Jim. |
Thanks Jim!
But think, you can have a Wasa with a load of butter on it! A load of cold butter. You can stuff it into those little divots all over the cracker. You can even put a piece of cheese on top of it. Check what the carb count is on other crackers, like Ryvita. There may be a variety that you will enjoy. There are many brands in natural foods stores. Here is a link to info on hydrogenated fats: Hydrogenated Fats And one to a previous discussion on cooking with fat that you may find interesting: To fry or not to fry Maybe someone will come by and say "ewwwwww" to Wasa crackers. ;) Karen |

On the other hand, for similar net carb count (5.5g), the Wasa Light Rye crackers can't be beat. Wholemeal rye flour, water, salt .. that's it. Nice mild flavour, thin and crisp texture. my 2¢ Doreen |
Wasa wonders
I LOVE sour dough (?) Wasa covered with whipped cream cheese. This is like a dessert to me. Crunchy, salty, sweet!
7 carbs 1 fiber MY 2 cents. Julie  |

Wow, that sounds killer diller, I can't wait to try it. I will have to run down to the local Krogers tonight. Thanx for the tip... |

Doreen, Your suggestion just gave me a brainstorm. (ok, light shower at best. :daze: ). Why not make a rueben spread out of the corn beef, sour kraut, and cream cheese with thousand island mixed in and spread it on on the rye wasa? I love rueben sammiches. I'll get back to you on it. Thanx again for your suggestion.... |
