the gout and Atkins??? can it be done???
 

Does anyone know if Atkins can be done if you have the gout. My mother in law is desperate to loose weight and has saw my progress. She would love to try Atkins but doesn't know if she can because she has the gout. I'm was hoping there was a way around it. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Actually it can be done, but you need to do some reading on it. Get you Atkins book, or head to the web site! Atkins can irrate gout if not do right.

In agreement. In the book,Protein Power, it tells of gout being insulin related although for years doctors have blamed the condition on a fatty diet. I have read many articles that agree with this. Read either the Atkins or Protein Power books before beginning a low lifestyle. Some have complained that their gout worsens on phase 1 of any lc diet.
