Hot Cross buns?

Does anyone know the breakdown {Fat, protein and carb} for Hot Cross buns? I couldn't find it on Fitday.....

Whatever the breakdown is, you almost certainly should not be eating them.

Depending on where you are getting them, you can either work up the data from the incredients or, to get a close idea, look for them or something similar at the grocery store and snag the data from the label. Be sure to take into account any difference between the serving size on the package you get eh data from and the actual serving size of what you are eating. You'll probably have to estimate that, but all this approach is going to give you anyway is an estimate.

You might also see if they are listed in Netzer's book. Miine's at home so I can't check it right now. If I remember, I'll check on that tonight.

Cheers!

Thanks Wbahn.... I know I wasn't supposed to eat it, but this morning I was so rushed I just grabbed it and it was down before I knew what was happening!

I have to get more organised for breakfasts....

I know the feeling.

I made a point of getting rid of all the non-allowed foods from my house - and that has paid off in spades. But I live alone and so some things are options for me that are not for others.

If the transgression was a one time event that you don't plan to repeat, then I would spend too much time trying to track down the information. Chaulk it up as a mistake and be done with it. If you just want something to put in your food totals for the day and you can't find information on hot cross buns, you might just all it a cinnamon roll and that should be close enough for your purposes.

Cheers!

hi there,

I just happened to have Netzer's food counts book handy ... no listing for hot cross buns. Fitday lists:
  • Roll, sweet, cinnamon bun, frosted - large - 315 cal, 13g fat, 47g carbs, 4g prot.
  • Roll, sweet, cinnamon bun, no frosting - large - 309 cal, 14g fat, 42g carbs, 5g prot
My non-lowcarb cookbook has a recipe for hot cross buns, and lists 58g carb per bun

Drink lots of water to help flush the carbs out of your system, and eat protein to help quash any cravings that might be triggered. And don't beat yerself up .. you only had one. It happens to all of us, in a hurry or caught unprepared. :)

Well I happen to have a packet right on hand.
Mine may be different of course , I live in New Zealand.

There not nearly as wicked as Doreen's

These ones weigh in at 50 grams each and have
130 cal
4.1 gram protein
1 gram fat
26.3 gram carb
1.8 fibre

I had one too, but I decided that I really wanted to and am not beating myself up about it :)
I wont be having another and still am in control, that is the enourmous difference

Happy Easter

Thanks Bloom. I am a transplanted New Zealander, been here 14 years. I too only had the one and am not tempted to eat any more.
