what's the deal with alcohol re: LC?
Hi, folks
I just started INDUCTION TODAY....I THINK I followed it o.k. so far: breakfast: Turkey bacon and eggs Lunch: salad w/ (3 cup) lettuce, (1/4 cup)baby spinach, mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts, (about 3/4 cup) cheddar and (3/4 cup) mozzarella cheese, a hard-boiled egg and a chicken sausage dinner: broccolli, shrimp and scallops But what's the deal with drinking. I will assume I should abstain for the first two weeks just to be on the safe side. But I recently got some low carb mixers. I only drink the low carb beer. Should I abstain for the first two weeks? And what should I do with the drinking situation AFTER the first two weeks? Thanks in advance J.S. |
Yeah, I would advise it. SOme people I guess don't have a reaction or stall, some do. I don't know I don't drink so I can't really help you

You shouldn't drink on induction as per Dr. Atkins. And even afterwards it will slow you down. I haven't stopped drinking on this woe, except for my original 2 weeks of induction, although I am pretty sure I would be losing faster without the beer (LC) and wine. I drink 2-3 evenings a week.
Hope that helps. Liz |
Induction is a great chance to really kick start your new WOE. Speaking as a University student who used to go to the bar a lot. Alchool is the surest way to cause a stall. Your body burns it first, and so it can kick you out of ketosis. If I go to the pub and have a drink or two with my friends ( even if they are low carb), I know it will take me two to four days to get back on track.

Hello from another Mainer.......
I drink rum and diet rite soda.....no carbs! It has not caused me to stall (I usually drink once a week)........in fact, my weight is dropping so fast I could use something to slow it down. If you drink hard liquor and mix it with diet soda there won't be any carbs....best of luck to you! Missy |
