Induction phase failure?

Hi, all!

 I have a question for you guys - I started the induction phase of Atkins a bit more than two weeks ago - and am still at where I started.

What I think sabotaged me was my getting a nasty cold and having to take medications (which contained sugar and alchohol).

So, here's my question:

1. Should I re-start Induction all over again? If so, should I take some time off before I do (so that it would be a shock to my system, which I presume is necessary to boost metabolism)?

2. Should I just go on on Induction as before the medications, and continue for another two weeks?

Any and all recommendations would be most welcome.

Many thanks in advance!

I would suggest just continuing with induction for another two weeks. There will be many times when "Life" interferes with your way of eating... but there's no need to go back to your old way so that you 'shock' your system. You just get back on the plan and continue on as before. :) With the case of induction, we say it's not really induction until you get a good 'clean' 2 weeks.

I second what Teri said.

You really need to detox and get into the swing of eating good and healthy and often. And two clean weeks really is a good amount of time to do clean.

All the best to you.

I know how you must feel. I've been on Atkins 6 weeks. I gained 3 lbs. in the first 3 weeks, but as of today I've lost 3lbs, and 1inch off my waist. Hopefully I'm finally on tract. Hang in there! Everyone
on this site is rooting for you. good luck

Boo-hoo! :D

I was so hoping to finally have a drink this weekend (and boy, do I need one!).

Ah, well, guess I'll have to deal with it.

It's funny, though - I didn't have any problems my first week (before I got sick). I mean, sure, the first couple of days I was a bit restless - but mostly because I wanted stuff I can't have (even stuff that I never liked, to begin with). Otherwise, it was a pretty easy transition for me.

Many, many thanks for your replies!

Hope things go better for you. I was having trouble getting into ketosis-- and it turned out that I needed a root canal! That pocket of infection was throwing my system out of whack. Got the root canal done (piece of cake-- excellent endodontist!:D) and was back on track. So, illnesses or infections can throw you off. I've found I do need to up my carbs when I'm sick, then go back when I'm feeling better.

Ah, well. I was SO looking forward to a drink this weekend. AGHHHHHHH!!!

Manhattan is not the place to be when you're on Atkins. Just kidding. Love this town!
