woot coffee is good for you.

LOL I couldnt resist making this post... So after yrs of saying coffee is bad a new study of 125 thousand people shows that drinking coffee lowers your risk of type 2 diabetes. According to the study the drop was 70 percent in men and 50 percent drop in women.

I just found this amusing... but I admit Ive been a bit obsessed with coffee lately since Im trying to stick to that one cup a day with cream.

oh great, more excuses for me to actually drink the stuff...hehe. I'm trying to cut down. The caffiene makes me totally ravenous about an hour after drinking it. BUt it sure is good for those times you need the energy for the gym.

Jaden you don't have to stick to one cup a day as long as it's black you can have as much as you want. Unless you like it with cream or are trying to cut out caffiene.

I dont like it without cream but Im trying to get used to it lol. I bet I can aquire a taste

Neither did I till about 6 months ago when my boss saw me putting my sugar and cream in and said that I needed to stop that and sugar is bad for me. So I tried it with just the cream then gradually went to just black. I still have one big cup in the morning with heavy cream and SF syrup.

I try to cut the caffeine... but I have black coffee in my veins. <sigh> I've reduced my intake a bit, but I haven't had a whole night's sleep since my son got sick, he wakes every 2 hours or less to be repositioned. Now he has to have surgery on his hip. I think that'll fix it, but when you can't have sleep...coffee is the next best thing.

My sister gave me a HUGE coffee cup at Christmas...You can fit a pop can in it with plenty of room to spare...can I count THAT as "only one cup"???

Tess M Wed, Jan-07-04 03:10

I'd count it as one cup, Potato... :p Things are definitely looking up in the nutrition world, aren't they? NOW--When someone does a study to prove that potato chips are the only prevention for hot flashes and night sweats--I'll be good to go...

Jaden Wed, Jan-07-04 05:54

ROFL Now that would be something. (sigh) Potato chips are my total weakness before I started atkins (then cad) last feb I was eating like a bag every other day. Once I started I just couldnt stop. I have not had a chip since last feb. Even in my reward meals because I dont trust myself . If only they would find greasy Wise potatochips prevent some kind of cancer :)

Well I saw the book "Potatoes Not Prozac" so maybe they really are healthy.....

(I have no clue what the book is about, just saw the title)

It's kind of like eggs. My Grandfather stopped eating eggs because of all the hype. Then when he was hospitalized they served him eggs every morning. He figured if it was good enough for a hospital, it was good enough for him and he bought a dozen when he got out :)

adukart Wed, Jan-07-04 09:42

PotatoFree, I don't know if you were joking or not but I haven't found an amount size in the book yet, it just says 1 cup in under 15 minutes unless it's black, so I assume you can have it as big as you want as long as it's gone in 15 minutes. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the trick in that case would be to add enough milk that it's cool enough to chug :)

That's what I do...actually I measure out my 2 ounces, put enough in my (giant) mug to cool it off, chug a bit, add the rest of the milk, top off with more coffee, and chug some more...
