Metabolife..stupid, stupid, stupid

I did a stupid thing. I have been on induction for 2 weeks. I lost 6 lbs in the first week and was thrilled. I had this brilliantly stupid idea that if I took Metabolife at the same time I could speed up my metabolism and loss more. I took two pills and the next day decided I really shouldn't mess with those things. I hadn't re-read my Diet Revolution book in ages and forgot the part about no amphetamines. I have been stalled ever since. 8 days with no weight loss and I couldn't be more frustrated and annoyed with myself. I am continuing on induction until the weight loss starts again. My question is if you are suppossed to discontinue medications such as these at least 2 weeks before being induction, do I have to wait another full week before I can expect improvement? Has anyone else made this same stupid mistake? I'm trying to stay motivated but I have to say it gets exponentially more difficult everyday. Help!

Your stall may not be from the Metabolife, it may just be your body adjusting to the WOL or evening out after a big loss in the first few weeks. Since you only took Metabolife for one day, I doubt it would still be affecting you, so don't beat yourself up. In fact, a lot of people continue to drink limited coffee while low carbing and still lose weight. You will probably start losing again soon, so stick with it.

My two cents worth. I'd stay far away from the metabolife. The main ingredient (Ma Huang - spelling?) has already been banned in two states, and its a lot more powerful than caffeine. I took the metabolife plunge a while ago, and I thought my heart would palpitate right out of my meager chest! :rheart:

Plus, it made me an absolute bear, and everything anyone did made me cranky.

I joined a Spiritial Weigh-Down group (my goodness, Weight Watchers, Spiritial Weigh Down, Metabolife, and now Atkins!) and the leader compared artificial help, like weight loss pills, to worshiping golden calves instead of listening to the voice of reason.

Please just stick to sensible lo-carbing and safe vitamins.

Thanks. I really thought I had blown it with that Metabolife stuff. I thought that maybe the other possibility was that I wasn't eating enough and I'm slowing down my metabolism. This sounds like a greater possibility now. It's a struggle to eat more because I'm just not hungry at all. I've never been a big eater. I'm going to stick with this though and try to fit higher calories foods in my diet. I can't imagine how I can stay on Atkins and exercise regularly and not see positive results. One day at a time.

Here's my two cents as well. I researched lots of met-boosters and decided to give them a try (ephedra free of course). I have been taking a supplement called T2 by Sci-fit. It was suggested I take 2 in the morning on an empty stomach, that didn't work for me, I felt nauseous, so I take 2 with breakfast and 2 = 30 minutes before I work out at lunch time - these don't contain that Ma Haung either, I have no palpitations whatsoever and I am not sleep interupted either. While working out, I can tell my metobolism is working faster. I honestly think these are helping with my weight loss. I asked questions about these on the exercise forum but nobody responded.

Ephedra and ma huang are essentially the same thing, no? Although, my local health food store sells raw ma huang, which they shouldn't really do as it is illegal in Canada.

I took ephedra for my asthma, and was fine. You just have to watch your dosage. (Asthma which is remarkably improved since I started on Atkins, by the way).
