Condiments

One of the biggest problems with LC for me, is cutting out condiments. No Ketchup, BBQ sauce, steak sauce etc...

Help me out with some acceptable condiments.

Butter, Mustard, low-sugar (read the label) pickle relish, chilli powder, old bay seasoning, (lost of dry seasonings) Check the carohydrate counter for some of the seasonings - some have a small amount of carbs.

They also sell pre-made low-carb BBQ sauces and steak sauces - the best though is the BBQ sauce you can make yourself. Check on the recipe section here on this forum for some ideas. Here is a recipe:

I purchased some ketoketchup - 1 gram per 1 TBS - all I need is 1TBS for my scrambled eggs or to dip my steak in. You can also purchase low carb barbeque sauce... or make your own! A little tomatoe paste, garlic powder, onion powder, vinegar, and some brown sugar - Sugar Twin.

I've tried the KetoKetchup too...it's a bit sweeter than regular ketchup, but quite good. Of course, at 6 bucks a bottle  , I don't get it often and use it sparingly.
I've also been known to use some steak sauces. There are a few that I've found (store brands) that are 3 grams of carb per tablespoon which is more than enough for a good size steak for me.
Otherwise, there's mayonnaise, mustard, dill pickle relish, tobasco sauce, soy sauce, worchestershire sauce and a host of herbs and spices that are no or very low carb.
Try new things and get creative. You might surprise yourself and find new things that you like even better than what you're missing! :D

There are alot of condiments like worchestershire that are 1 g carbs/ 1 g sugar. Can you get away with something so low in sugar, or is that a no-no?

For something that low (1 g. of sugar), I'd say don't sweat it, but that's just my personal opinion. It's nearly impossible to avoid ALL sugar; I just try to keep it to a minimum and count the carbs.

Be sure to read the labels on all condiments. When I started lowcarbing the brand of mustard I was using had 2 grams of carbs per teaspoon! I might as well have been rolling my hamburgers around in sugar.

I read your post on the newbie mistakes thread a few hours ago, I ran upstairs to check my mustard after that :-)

Another condiment to add, horseradish.
