Hello!

Hello!
I just found this site, and I'm hoping it will help me. I decided today to try the Atkin's Diet. I just bought the book and plan to start reading it tonight.
My mother had been on the diet to control her migrain headaches...not to lose weight. Her headaches have lessened quite a bit, plus she lost 20 lbs. in the last year. She really didn't need to lose the weight, she went from 120 lbs. to 100 lbs. (she's only 4'11") she did the diet for headache control.
Anyway...
I need to lose weight! Plus I also suffer from headaches. So if this works for me, I'll be killing 2 birds with one stone. :)
I am very much addicted to carbs. I love bread, pasta, potatos, sweets, CHOCOLATE, etc... so this is going to be a major challenge.
Any advice appreciated. ;)
I'm off to start my book now... :read:

Hi Dolphinblu!

My advice would be to go cold turkey. No low carb chocolate or other junk food. It's tough at first, but within a week or so, the cravings will be gone. Prepare yourself with lots of "legal" snacks like hard boiled eggs and sliced cheese, meats and veggies. Treat yourself to your favorite dressing or dip, just check the labels for carb counts.

Good luck!
