Another sushi question
Help! tomorrow I am being forced to go to a sushi place w/work. I read one other thread re sushi, but didnt really tell me what was allowable.
I have never eaten sushi (with the exception of california rolls, which I know I cant eat b/c of rice) and am little freaked out about experimenting. any ideas? |
I LOVE sushi!!
Try the Tuna (if they have Toro, which is the fatty tuna- try that -it's amazing or else the white tuna is relly good too.) If they have a sashimi plate- get that for a good variety. It usually has several types of fish and no rice and you get to try some different things. Ask your server to tell you what the different pieces are so you know what your faves are. I mix LOTS of wasabi into my soy sauce (yes there are a couple of carbs in soy) and it's sooooo yummy! Have fun and enjoy! Good low-carb thoughts to all!! Tracy |
sashimi is what you'll probably want to order. you'll be getting pretty much raw fish without the rice underneath it. mmmmm :)

thanks! I'll let youknow how it goes!

You could also ask if they have kani salad (I think its the crab salad) usually just mixed with mayo.

OMG, I love sushi and now it's off-limits due to pregnancy. Sashimi is great low-carb food -- fresh and pure, yum! I love salmon, shrimp, yellowtain, tuna, eel, oh man this is making me hungry!

Oregano & Gne Gne,
Thanks for the ideas. Maybe this sushi experience will be a good one, since my whole woe has changed, might as well try this. |
I LURVE sushi, and that's probably the only thing I'm sad about with the WOE. I've decided that once I get really close to my goal, I'll slowly incorporate it back into my diet using it as a treat instead of sweets.

I think yakitori would work too- it's just chicken on a stick! :)
also clear soups are ok with LC too |
You may want to be careful with the yakitori. You'll find that it's often cooked in soy sauce and sugar. It's probably best to check with someone at the restaurant in the know.
Enjoy your sashimi! Cheers, Wabi |
