If you're happy and you know it clap your hands
I could hardly wait for a chance to sit here and post this. My cholesterol was >700 at one time and my triglycerides were 3,323. Over the years I've taken medications to treat them, yes I know very controversial here. Anyway, I saw my doctor last year in April and she told me to try Atkins. When I saw her 1/7/05 my cholesterol was 211, tri 453, hdl 33 and ldl 87. My doctor was pleased with the results 'cause that was the lowest they've ever been. I had my blood drawn 3/31/05 results are chol 188 tri 165, hdl 35, and ldl 120. My hgba1c was 4.7. I get to wean myself off of my diabetes medicne and my lipids are a smashing success. I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it. This WOE and my exercise are really paying off and I'm so proud.

Right On!!!!

Excellent! Are you still taking meds for cholesterol? or is this strictly diet control?
|
Still on medication. My doctor wasn't ready to decrease any of that yet. This is the closest my numbers have ever been to "Normal".

Ever consider taking Niacin to improve lipid numbers? It worked wonders for me and it's a natural B vitamin. I chose it over statin therapy. |
Doc didn't want to go with niacin at the time 'cause blood sugar was borderline. Maybe down the road.

Congratulations! That is such awesome news. It's really encouraging to me since I have high cholesterol, but I just feel terrible when I don't eat lots of fat. Have you been eating saturated fats freely along with monosaturated ones?

Good for you! I know I was shocked, suprised, gob-smacked when I got my test results after the first 7 weeks on Atkins and found out my cholesterol numbers had improved dramatically. Although I'd read it in the books, I still didn't really believe it until it happened to me. Great news! Keep up the good work. |
