Kat's Moving Again!!!

I'm not very fit, but I am trying. I am starting a Gym Log because I want to be able to go back a few months from now and see my progress. It might motivate me and keep me on track. I have been back on Atkin's approximately six weeks and lost at least 20 lbs. Probably more. (Don't have an accurate starting weight, but 270 is gonna be pretty close to right. )

So here is what I'm doing (it isn't much, but I will increase as I can): I'm at 2.5 MPH on the treadmill, no incline. I walk for 30 minutes. I have set a goal for myself to do this 5 days a week at the minimum.

I have checked my heart rate several times while walking and at 2.5 MPH my heart is beating 140 BPM. Poor heart. :(

I am getting an exercise bike and some sort of abdominal machine from my mom. I am not sure what kind of schedule I'll use with these other machines, but I'm not going to reduce my walking to fit them in. Oh, and also, I ordered a pedometer and it arrived yesterday. I'm gonna keep track of how many steps I take in a day and try to increase my movement a little each day. I sit around way too much; I want to reduce the time spent sitting on my behind.

Anyway, it's time for me to get off this computer and go MOVE!!!

Hi Kat. I had to go back into exercising very slowly or I knew I'd find reasons not to do it. After the first week I was hooked again. I've increased the intensity as I felt ready, and so exercise hasn't become torture for me. I also noticed when I started exercising, my weight went back up a couple of pounds. Apparently water collects in your muscles when you start working out. So it's a harmless gain, but frustrating at first. If I can't walk outside, I use my treadmill. I gave my exercise bike to my Mom, I prefer the treadmill, while listening to very upbeat music. And then I do some weight lifting. I'm so glad to be exercising again. Well, keep up the good work.
I just wanted to add, I love your quote...how funny! :)

Yeah, I'm glad to be exercising again, too. Feels great to be moving again! I was sore today, for some reason... but I got my walking done. 2.5 MPH for 30 minutes.

Last night, my mother brought an exercise bike and an Ab-Doer II for me. I used the Ab-Doer for 10 minutes last night.

Wow, I just started this and already I'm forgetting to post in it.

So... here is what I've done so far for this week:

Sunday: Ab thingy for 10 min./ walked on treadmill for 30 min./bike for 30 min.
Monday: Ab thingy for 10 min./walked on treadmill for 30 min.
Tueday: Ab thingy for 10 min./walked on treadmill for 30 min./bike for 30 min.

You are doing great, walking is such a great exercise. I know by experience. You'll see those pounds shedding.

Good luck

Well, I keep forgetting to post the exercising I've done.

Wednesday: Ab thingy for 10 min./bike for 30 min. (no treadmill today)
Thursday: Ab thingy for 10 min./walked on treadmill for 40 min.
Friday: Ab thingy for 10 min./walked on treadmill for 40 min./bike for 30 min.

I've found that my whole day goes better if I get my exercising out of the way early in the morning instead of waiting until after Alexandra's bedtime.

I was able to increase the time spent on the treadmill by an extra 10 minutes (still at 2.5 MPH) yesterday and today. I did notice that my right knee is protesting a little bit. Nothing as painful as when I first started walking again, though.

All in all, I'm pleased with adding some extra stuff this week besides the walking. I'm glad that I was able to increase to 40 min. on the 'Mill. I keep forgetting to wear the danged pedometer... I've only got step counts for two days this week; I have to remember to wear the thing!!! I paid 30$ for it and I hate to waste money. :D

Sunday: walked on treadmill for 30 min. (that's all--no bike or abs today)

Took it easy on the treadmill because of the knee. Right knee has been bothering me but is feeling better now. I did nothing Saturday. Only did the 'Mill on Sunday. Monday I will try to walk and do the bike again. I've had a lazy weekend.

I did nothing on Friday but sit and lay around all day. I just felt terrible and don't know why. Very fatigued on Thursday, Friday and today as well. I'm getting some shape back in my legs, which pleases me. I always loved my calf muscles, hehe, but I've not SEEN them in a while. They are starting to show again. Yay!

Well, I did not exercise at all on Friday, but for the whole week I've gotten: Treadmill x6, Bike x4, Abs x5.

kalico_kat Mon, May-10-04 02:28

Sunday: walked on treadmill for 30 min.

New week! I am STILL walking at 2.5 mph--every time I try to up my speed or duration I have problems with my stupid knee, so I figure I need to lose little more weight before I try to start walking faster or longer. It's okay; I shall be patient and gentle with this body. I'm going to do the bike, treadmill and abs today.

kalico_kat Mon, May-10-04 09:00
