From Down Under

Day 4 has arrived

Today I started Day 4 of the Induction phase and I feel terrific.. I felt terrible last Sunday with the most horrible headache imaginable but I put up with it and, feeling like stopping and overindulging in carbs, I just went on. It was certainly worth it.

Today I have had a yummy omlette for my breakfast, felt as guilty as anything but relished in knowing that I could eat as much protein and fat as I liked.

Is there any one else out there that cares to join me?

Hey, I am starting induction over right now. It sounds like this is a good diet for you. I do know that headache, I have it right now. Anyway keep it up.

I'm down under too

Take the headache as a good sign that you must be doing it right.......it will pass.

Good luck and enjoy yourself...........

Good to meet a fellow Ossie....

It is great to speak tp you Frances. Were you involved in the horrific fires that you just had up you way?

Can you please give me some of the substitutes for food products please. Thanks

LC shopping in Australia......

The fires came close to scare the life out of me and my daughter, but were luck. We were without power for 3 days, ugh. Isn't it amazing want we depend on these days.

I did know the 60 yo man that died, he was a member of the Irish Club, at least 20 homes belonging to members were destroyed.

Do you have any specific products that you are interested? I don't have a big list and it is very limiting in Australia.

Pork rinds

Hi,

:q: Have you been able to find pork rinds that are mentioned in heaps of delicious sounding recipes?

Thanks
Simone

PS. Glad to hear your house was safe, I'm very lucky - live on the Northside.

pork rinds

Dear sim1, no I haven't ............we seem to be very deprived in Aussie don't we.

Can I tell you about this recipee I did find, I can't remember wherenow, but if you like schnitzels, use almond meal and parmesan chesse and garlic powder in place of bread crumbs, OH MY GOD, to die for. So you coat the chicken in beaten egg with a drop of water then crumb them as normal, then fry them.

I basically overdosed on them having them lunch and dinner, I love them cold.

I'm glad you were ok too but the northside had its own scare too.

Sounds delicious

Thanks for that, I was planning on making a chicken dish Thursday night when I have friends over and I love schnitzel. I wondered how I would ever be able to have it again and now I can :D

Frances Tue, Feb-04-03 20:13

schnitzel love

Hope you enjoy!!

Hi Frances and Sim1.

yes you can buy 'pork rinds' in here in Oz. in sydney where I work right in the CBD, you can buy them from coles or woolies, they are called "Krackles". they don't always have them, but will order them in for you.....

in Helensburgh where I live, my local bottle shop has them!!

Glad to hear you guys were okay with the fires. We in Helensburgh had our turn last year on xmas day, and are now struggling to come to terms with the Waterfall disaster. it was the train my daughter catches to school every day, so it's hit fairly close to home.......

Frances Tue, Feb-04-03 20:50

These close calls and near misses can sometimes be just as devastating in our our minds and emotions as the real thing, the "what if" thoughts that go through your mind can be debilitating. Since my son died in May 2001, any bad thing that happens in the world just makes me want to lock myself in my house, but can't do that.........

I've tried the Krackle pork rinds, as you say it's hard to get regularly, when eating them I always feel that they aren't real pork and I'm wrecking the LC..........

How wonderful to find not 1 but at least 3 that are her in OZ on the Atkins program. Thanks for your info about the Pork Rinds - they are something that really takes my fancy and I wondered exactly what they were.

Aussie Girl I am suprised to hear that you get them (pork rinds)in a bottle shop so I presume that they must be like "snack food". I am so glad that your daughter is OK. Was she on the train or not - it really was nasty.

Frances Thanks for the tip re Schneitzels, do you know if it can be used during the induction phase? Thanks also for telling me about the headache, it has gone now as I come to the end of day 5 on the program.

Take care all,

Ash/Jenye. :daizy:

I wouldn't myself just to be on the safe side. But it's only two weeks it can be your finish of induction treat.

Frances

AshenPond Tue, Feb-04-03 23:23

Thanks Frances,

It probably will be another week or so before I get to the shops and by that time the induction phase will be over.

Take care,

Jenye. :daizy:

I found some!

Frances,

I found Porky Bits at the City Supabarn in Canberra. They are 25g packs for about 92c and have 0.4g of carbs per pack. Made by Golden Snack Foods, they are a red foil package in the aisle with the chips.

I'm so excited because they are so delicious and are a great substitute for potato chips and now I can make those delicious recipes I've read so much about!

Yeah!!
