You must have at least one of them

Okay, I thought it would be fun for us to post the best/worst comments we've had from people while we shrink in size.

**caution** Try not to be eating/drinking while reading because you might choke

Here are two of mine:

#1 "Gee Krista, you look great! I bet your husband is all over you now! "

my thoughts on that comment: okay so what are you really saying? you think he didn't love me before? get a grip! He's a man! lol

#2 "Wow, you look so pretty now"

my thoughts on that comment: okay, so I was a dog before?

laughing here, some people have no tact, I know they think they are paying you a huge compliment but with how low my self esteem was before don't they think that they are now reinforcing all the bad things I thought about myself back then?

enjoy my comments and look forward to hearing your blunders

Let them eat cake, I'm having veggies

The week after I started Atkins, I told my doctor what I was doing. He didnt know much about Atkins, but old me to try it and to come back in 8 weeks for blood work.

So my favorite is from a friend (who is doing WW) commenting on Atkins and my upcoming blood test. . .

"You know when the nurse sticks you in the arm, she is going to get lard, not blood."

Oh BTW. . .In just 8 weeks, my overall cholesterol, good cholesterol, bad cholesterol and Trigliceride levels all improved.

OMG!
I once had a phlebotomist (sp?) at Quest Labs tell me my blood is "black" b/c I smoke! How crazy is that?

How about this....

My cousin saw me for the first time in a year on Christmas. (he is 4)

"Wow, Shaun cut all his fat off!"

The one that got me was...... " your husband must like you so much better now !"
GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR

Years ago I had lost 70 pounds on my own and went to visit my Grandmother. She had severe dementia and could not remember who anyone was. I sat by her bedside and said "Grandma I am Cindi, do you remember me?" She sat right up and said "But you're not fat!".

My Grandma was about six feet tall and never was overweight, she watched her weight so carefully. Unfortunately, she had a life long habit of watching everyone else's weight and commenting on it. That is the only negative thing I can say about her. She was a wonderful loving woman. Looking back - they knew something back then because she would always say "put those potatoes and the bread back!".

My boss came in one day about a couple of months after I'd started this WOE and announced

"My daughter asked me to tell you you're going to drop dead doing that Atkins stuff, your heart is just going to stop beating from all that fat you're eating!"

And this from a girl who has tried everything under the sun including starving herself to loose weight - and she's not even big to start off with. Oh yes and the second funniest thing I heard was -

"Gee, you're going to wither away to nothing!" - I wish, please I wish!!!

well... will still about 21lb's to lose I have had the following comment thrown at me more than once recently

" you really dont want to lose much more weight, we dont want you to go all anorexic now do we " - as if !!!!! people are so so narrow minded and lack tact !!

Its also the look of horror on peoples faces, when after asking you how you have lost the weight and you tell them Atkins you get the " do you feel ok, bet you havent got any energy, how do you survive on no carbs " Argh !!!!! they drive me insane !!

Guess we just have to smile smugly to ourselves and know that we know we are doing the best thing for us !! :yay:

People have to do what works for them, and some bury their head in the sand and find every excuse not to do what is best for them. Lets do what we believe in and lets believe in the truth.

shoshie Mon, Jan-19-04 09:45

ok here is mine. from my mother who is very over weight. But only "diets" for one meal. sneaks butter cookies all the time.

" oh, I can't believe that you still kept your weight off"
ok I still have much more to go but, please. She is jealous.

Lisa N Mon, Jan-19-04 09:59

The funniest one I've had to date is: "You know...I heard someone's kidneys exploded from following a low carb diet."

The second best so far was in response to my answering the question of how much more I want to lose: "OMG! There won't be anything left of you if you lose that much!" LOL...there will still be plenty of me left when I get to my goal weight, I assure you...just about half as much of me as there was before.

As posted on the thread I started the other day:-

Atkins, that's the thing that makes your pee go blue isn't it? I heard it makes it go a funny colour, pretty sure it's blue.

:D

I guess one of my favorites was while working in the bar... the dear young co-manager didn't want to offend me (evidentally some female had him well trained!) so he stammered a bit and finally just said I looked nice and, um, wasn't I, um, BIGGER before?

Contrast that to one of the customers who fancies himself smooth with the ladies... he waited until I bent over to get beer out of the cooler and says "Whatever you're doing, it's working..just don't go losing your boobs."

shoshie Mon, Jan-19-04 10:08

Bluish? oh my that was an interesting one! ( I am biting my tongue on more comments I have for that smart person)
