Popcorn!!!!!!!!
I am just beginning Atkins and am on day 8 of induction. I have read the Atkins website completely and feel I have a good handle on the process. The inches are coming off though the weight seems slow.
My question however is about food after induction.... POPCORN! I love the stuff! (Actually cheated and ate 10 pieces this week!) After induction....how much carbs are in popcorn (my personal favorite being Orville Red....Ultimate theater style - maybe only in Canada!). Any suggestions regarding popcorn eating?????????? Thanks so much for your help! |
Popcorn
Popped "butter" popcorn has approximately 4 grams per cup (it seems to vary on brand) and around 1 gram of fibre (so around 3 grams carbs per cup on average.
I would think (as with all foods) after induction try it (a little bit) and see how you react. Be sure to count the carbs in your daily amount. I guess the question is .. can you stop at a small amount (I know I can't). Cheers Kim |
Thanks K-Louise! A month ago I would have said there is no way that I could stop. But, I figure if I can just eat 10 pieces like I did this week that a cup or two would be absolute heaven!
Thanks for your help! |
Is it the same for "movie popcorn???? I have been wondering about that. Ellen

My assumption would be yes if the carbs are basically from the corn! You may want to watch the fake butter on top. I'm in Canada and we can actually get real butter now at some places !!!!!!!! Maybe you can do the same.
ENJOY!!!!!!!! |
Thanks for the reply.. all we get here in Texas is oil that is colored yellow.. I am going to try it but I will be very cautious on how I feel for the next couple of days. I know sometimes I trigger and it takes a day or two to kick in. Ellen

Had some popcorn tonight...it was yummy...I am going to check it out in Fitday..but after this waiting untill induction is over!

I would wait until after induction to eat popcorn. Try to stick to the allowed-foods list. There is an awful lot of salt in popcorn and the fake butter can't be good for you.

The problem with popcorn isn't the number of carbs. The problem is that it has a high glycaemic index (GI), and will therefore trigger an insulin response, and in many of us, this can lead to cravings.
