Maybe post a sample meal or so so we can see what you are eating? don't give up!! we can figure it out :)

Please look at my fit day for accuracy

LadyBelle Wed, Feb-25-04 12:54

I'm not seeing any foods in your fitday......

ok here's a day. First peanut butter isn't allowed in induction. Also processed cheeses aren't allowed. Ham typically contains alot of sugar and should be limited.

Honestly besides the eggs on this day, I don't see a meal at all. No veggies, alot of processed foods, and high sodium. Your net carbs should be below 20, not your total. That means total carbs - fiber.

The 21st is a bit better, but still tons of processed foods and very few veggies. There are also days where you are eating below 1000 calories. You're body will hang on to what fat it has thinking there is a famine going on.

DITTO on that one.

Okay Labybelle, What kind of cheese can I have? also, no ham?? It seems like everyone else eats it.

ih74farmer Wed, Feb-25-04 13:06

Eat lots of veggies cooked in fat and cut out the processed foods. Is there any cheese I can have?

AFwife Wed, Feb-25-04 13:10

Do you have the Atkins book?

It's all stated there.

Mozzerella, Cheddar, Swiss, Grouda, Cream Cheese, Swiss, Roquerfort and other blue cheeses.

I have the book right in front of me if you need to know anything else.

Real cheddar, colby, etc etc. Just not that plastic cheese that's not really cheese. The yellow slices they call "American cheese food" Those are made of whey and chemicals.

Any real cheese. The fresh cheeses like cottage and farmers are not allowed but cream cheese is but must be limited because of its (relatively)high carb count

They are all listed on page 125 of the 2002 DANDR paperback edition

Have you considered doing the Fat Fast to give your metabolism the boost it needs?

AFwife Wed, Feb-25-04 13:31

Chapter 20 talks about extreme difficulty in losing weight. It states, 'The inablity to burn fat or lose weight, the phenomenon called Metabolic Resistance to weight loss, is not uncommon.'

He then states 4 major problems that may cause this Metabolic Resistance:

1. Excessive insulin and insulin resistance, usually accompanied by high triglycerides.
2. The use of prescription drugs or hormones which impede weight loss.
3. Underactive thyroid (hypothyroid) function, which can be present even when blood tests indicate no abnormality.
4. Overgrowth of the yeast organism Candida Albicans.

He states then how to overcome these four most common obstacles with the Atkins Nutrional Approach. (to long to type in here though)

A few pages down he then talks about the Fat Fast. He makes it a point that, "the Fat Fast is dangerous for anyone who is not metabolically resistant."

Basically what you do is eat 5 meals a day each meal being 200 Calories. YES you have to count calories for this one. You do it for 4-5 days to see if you achieve what the Fat Fast is capable of doing. After the first 5 days you up your meals to 300 calories each meal. This is if you chose to continue the Fat Fast. Then after another 5 days (for a total of 10 days) at 300 calories he suggest you go back to Induction. This should have given your metabolism the boost it needs kinda like when your car won't start and it needs a jump.

This is just a suggestion. I know you're probably frustrated and "no one should feel that losing weight is hopeles." As Dr. Atkins says himself in this chapter.

Good luck,

Lily

Yes, I have the book but maybe I should reread thanks for the reminder. You guys are so low carb savvy. Then thank goodness for cheddar cheese! Kimberly

My DANDR is all dogeared like a dirty novel. Sit it on it's spine on the palm of your hand and it immediately opens to all the "good bits" :D

AFwife Wed, Feb-25-04 13:35

This book is my second Bible. I take everywhere and even after 4 months, I still go back and look into it.
