Should I count calories too?

I have been doing the Atkins WOL for a little over 7 months now. I lost weight very well for about 5 of those months but the last 2 months or so is a real struggle to even get a pound off a month. I don't expect to lose all my weight over night and see it falling off to the tune of 2-5 pounds a week or anything like that. But I don't cheat on myself and my WOL and still I am not getting any positive results. Yes I feel good but that is not my only goal here. so I am working on weight loss too. I was wondering if counting my calories might help with my meeting this goal of losing weight. I know it may take me a couple years to lose all the weight I need to lose and I'm okay with that. I'm in no hurry but I do want to see some progress towards my goal. I think most people would.

Help if you can, I would like to hear all feedback.

thanks :)

Counting calories is really not needed for this WOE, unless you want to see if you are getting enough, at least 1800-2200 cals a day. Are you exercising? Weight training would help rev up your metabolism...

Yes Shelly I am exercising 6 days a week. I do Jorge Cruise 8 min in the morning wt training and walk between 4-6 miles everyday. I keep my carb at about 20-25 and drink over a galon of H20 a day. I know there are going to be times when my body needs to rest and repair but 2 months is kind of long in my book. I don't know what else to do to get things moving again. Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated, thanks for listening. :)

I totally agree with Shelly, calorie count is only needed if you have a tendancy to under-eat.

One thought is that if you are exercising, have you tracked your measurements? With exercise, there's always the chance that you are gaining muscle, which tend to show little progress on the scale, but a lot of progress on the tape. That's a very good sign.

If you have any doubts about what you are doing, you might want to start a journal, and our members will be able to pick any problem areas

Plateaus suck, but they are a normal part of the process. It gives your body a chance to recoup from the changes it's been going through.

It may be a good idea to see if you are getting enough calories, at least 10 - 12 times your body weight. But you don't have to eat more volume, just eat more fat.

A lot of people use fitday.com to track their numbers.

Thanks everyone, karen I think you hit it the nail on the head. I will see if I am getting enough cals in. I did measure myself and no inches are lost either. I know muscle weighs more than fat and all but this is a real stall and it isn't anything simple like that. I tried all those paliminary things before I asked for help. I know i'm getting enough H20, exercise and not over eating, keeping my carbs within my CCL but I never thought I might not be eating enough calories. I thought I might be eating too many.

Thanks guys, I'll try your suggestions

You have been a big help, Thanks again :)
