Just finished the Atkins book. Started following the Atkins diet on Friday the 18th. It's Monday the 21st and I've dropped nearly 10 pounds already form 230-220. My goal was originally 215, but since its working so well I'm now shooting for 205. At 215 I'm going to go into phase 2 and start adding some carbs. I also added exercise every day rather then every other day. So far so good. I noticed the following:
(1) Mild headache; somthing I never get, but I'm off Caffine.
(2) Some mile pains in my joints.

Hi and welcome! The headache is probably caffeine related, drink lots of water it might help. Mile pains are to be expected. I suggest you start a journal - you will find it to be an excellent tool. So far you are doing great! Wishing you continued success!

May want to reconsider daily exercise as well. The body needs time off to heal. Rest is just as important as exercise.

Good luck and welcome!

Hi Everyone, I started the atkins diet today with my husband and in-laws. I gained 40 pounds in the last 6 months due to a medication called Zyprexa. I'm off the medication now, and want to drop the 40 pounds. I've never tried to lose weight before, I previously had a very high metabolism and could eat all I wanted, before Zyprexa.

Welcome! Make sure you grab a copy of the book and check out the recipes!

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'll continue tracking my condition,, but there is no way the exercise is going to be cut out short of me dieing. The Diet will go long before the exercise, I'd rather be dead then inactive. Best,

Drew

As one who exercises 5 days a week I certainly would not recommend cutting out the exercise. However, as I said, rest is imperative. Too much exercise tends to become anabolic and therefore counterproductive.

Thanks....

I only exercise 30-45 minutes a day. On my easy days I lift weights rather then run, bike or play racket ball. I usually only do that every other day. I'm hoping to knock off 15 pounds and then start adding carbs to find my nutral point. I'm 6'-5" so 205 would be a really good weight for me. Not sure I can do it, but the diet is working thus far. Two eggs will fill me up now. Best,

Drew
