That varies. Sugar Alcohols [which are actually Alcohols, not Carbs BTW] are only partially absorbed (5-75%) and have very low Glycemic Indices (<10) and Loads (<1.) The theory is they have very little effect on Blood Sugar. Unfortunately, there are some folks who seem to react to them with an insulin spike. So, some folks can have all the SAs they want and lose weight...and some will stall eating just one bar.

Just to add that what affects one may not affect others. Sugar Alcohols and glycerin, in moderation, that are found in most bars and shakes don't affect me (glad for that) BUT BUT BUT I only consume either a few times a week and never 2X in one day. So who knows how it would affect me if I did eat/drink more often??? I don't want to chance it.

If you feel that by you eating/drink bars and shakes may be the cause of your slower weight loss or stall...than discontinue...and see what happens. If you start to lose again than you know the answer.
