Cotton Mouth - Bad Taste??

First of all at the end of the first two weeks I am down 15 lbs. :) :) :)

Now for the problem. Has anyone experienced a dry mouth? My mouth stays so dry most of the time that I could not spit if I had to! I am averaging 60+ ounces of water a day so I don't think I am dehydrated.

Along the same lines I have developed a VERY bad metallic taste in my mouth. It's kinda like I am sucking on a mouth full of pocket change or nuts and bolts. YUCK!

Yep, I have that problem too. I have a piece of sugar-free gum and that seems to help.

Congratulations on your weight loss!

You probably need a lot more water than that. I'm a wee lass, and 60 oz isn't enough for me. ;) More water will definitely help the "metal mouth" by helping to flush the ketones out that way, instead of out your lungs.

Congrats on your success so far!

The bad metal taste is normal it's a part of ketosis. As for being dehydrated you should drink 8-8oz glasses of water a day. Over weight people add 1-8oz glass for every 25 pounds over weight.

Yep, more water. I need to hit a minimum of 80-100 oz per day for that cotton mouth to go away (sometimes more!).

Hi there GSPapaBear!

Yup, you need more water than that. I drink a minimum of 100 oz per day, but usually more like 150.

The metallic taste in your mouth is your new friend. It means LCiong is working for you. More water will help flush that taste...

Good luck!

I've never been into fluids and when people say drink 4 pints of water a day I think that's impossible. Well, it is for me, but I have found that by eating plenty of salty food (easy for me anyway) and, most important, keeping a glass of water next to me all the time, I can consume at least a quart a day.
