Ice cream
Does anyone have a SBD friendly ice cream recipes. I hate all the sugar alcohols they use in the ones you can buy in the store so I just figured I would start making my own.
Thanks, Jenn |
You could freeze some of the allowed yogurt serving. You could also make ice milk from skim milk (that may take an icecream maker unsure).
If you want store bought. LeCarb only has glycerine and the homade vanilla flavor is good. |
Thanks lady I'll have to look around for some ice milk or frozen yogurt recipes. I have a couple old recipes I might be able to convert I am just not sure how it would turn out without at least some half and half. I have an ice cream maker and usually make it quite regularly throughout the summer months. The kids are already asking for my ice cream so I thought I would make something the whole family could enjoy (including me.)
Thanks again, Jenn |
Pre-LC days I made an icemilk using skim milk. It was a cinnimon one and it turned out great tasting. It froze harder then a rock and had to be chisled though. I've heard form others that many Lc ice creams will do this too unless some kind of alcohol is added.

I used to make one that came out great with fat free half and half and skim milk but I was looking and I think every single fat free half and half brand has stupid corn syrup as the second ingredient listed!!!!!!!! It's only a cup of it and if I used carb countdown fat free for the other liquid, I bet it would still come out lower than the LC sugarfree store brands. It uses maple syrup which I would sub the sugarfee syrup for. I wonder if that is why it came out a nice texture when I used to make it before. I'll let you know how it turns out when I do give it a try. ;)
