sunflower seeds count

What is the carb count for sunflower seeds in the shell? How many can I have? I am going camping and really need to know because this is a low-carb snack I could enjoy instead of junkfood!

 Hi Lorianne,

try going to www.fitday.com they give different counts, but I think they are "hulled"...you might see what they have to say.

According to NFA "Nutrtional Values of Australian foods" Sunflower seeds Have 2.2g ECC per 100g Yay! I love them.. :D

Jezebel.......
Is there a tool to calculate how much 100g is compared to the cup version?

Do you eat the ones NOT in the shell?

Unfortunately I don't know if there are any tools to do such a calculation.... I use my"Nutritional values of australian foods" book, which lists all foods as 100g protions, this suits me well beacuse I am never sure exactly what a "medium cumber"(for instance) actually is.....I find working with weight much easier. Oh yeah.. I eat the sunflower seeds without the shells!

Such a tool does exist. It is called a scale. :)

Of course, you need a scale that is small enough but you could fill a measuring cup then weigh it to find out how many grams a cup of sunflower seeds weighs (be sure to subtract the weight of the cup). Then do the appropriate calculations to determine how much 100g of sunflower seeds are..

According to Corinne Netzer's Food Count Book, 1 cup of sunflower seeds in the shell are:
Calories: 180
Protein: 8 g
Fat: 15 g
Carbohydrates: 6 g

You really need a food count book. :)

I did a LOT of research before buying Netzer's. It is GREAT. I got mine online at www.half.com...a GREAT source for used but in like new condition books for half or less than half price.

Paris:D
