Never broke a chair until I started losing weight???

Okay at my heaviest I was 370 lbs and in a size 6X clothes and now I'm in a size 26/28...I never broke chairs ever before and now I've gone through 3 chairs. What's up with that???

AFwife Thu, Apr-22-04 10:38

Now that is wack.

Hope you didn't hurt yourself.

You're doing great, so don't worry too much about it. Keep smiling.

:)

They're trying to sabotage you? Sounds like a conspiracy!

New clothes shopping, new chair shopping... We do get our shopping time in don't we?! :D

Congrats on your success so far! You're doing great!!

Maybe you are moving around more easily now...so you are plopping down with more energy? :D I don't know...that seems strange. Be careful!

simplydawn Thu, Apr-22-04 11:11

ooooooooooooh... you know maybe the person above me has a good question..maybe weighing less, you are less conscious of how you are seating, walking or standing!

I know in the apartment above me now, is a VERY SKINNY woman....very.. and she walks like an elephant is running thru the joint. Previously, there was a heavier person, and never heard a peep...nor thud narry a sound from above..

Go figure....

LMAO!
I have often worried about my kitchen chairs (would they hold me?)
Now I guess I really have to look out!
You made my day!
Thanks :)

I've been excersing and maybe it's the fact that I do feel comfortable with my body now and I'm not so self-conscious, but gosh, if this doesn't feel like a smack in the face I don't know what does.

Quest Thu, Apr-22-04 13:26

That WOULD be discouraging! But you have so many reasons to feel good about the direction you are going, don't let it get to you. Dump the stress here and we will share it!

leasmom Thu, Apr-22-04 14:18

I won't let it stop me, nothing will, but I just think its mighty ironic... :(

orchidday Thu, Apr-22-04 16:03

Hey Leasmom:

Just remember, even smaller people break chairs! It could have been the chair and not you! Seems like when we are big we assume that is the cause of everything. For all you know, a 120-lb. shrimp could have sat on it and busted it even worse. I sure hope you didn't get hurt though. That could really hurt!

Sometimes when weird and strange things happen I think they are messages of a sort. Maybe the message is "Keep going Leasmom!" Keep low-carbing and keep that great losing record going. We'll get there!

I started a thread on this very topic last year! I never broke a chair in my life until I got below 300 and then I did it at the home of one of the highest ranking people at the place where my husband works! Click here for the link to my story. You are not alone!

It is an awful experience, but I got over it and you will too. I have not broken a chair since this one time.

teresamay Thu, Apr-22-04 19:51

'this happened to me a couple years ago - I sat in a cloth lawn chair in front of a whole group of people at a bbq and the whole chair collapsed- I was so humiliated - but you know what - that's life - not much we can do about it. Dont' let it get you down, the chair was probably not made well anyway - these days they are so flimsy...hope you have a better night :)

potatofree Thu, Apr-22-04 20:27

I like to freak my 110-lb SIL out and hover around the flimsy wicker chairs she prizes... :D I'd never dare, since they wobble under HER weight, but I like to keep her guessing!!!

fridayeyes Thu, Apr-22-04 20:53

ROFLMAO Potatofree!! That's hilarious!

Don't let it get to you Leasmom. Somebody on the board has a quote in his/her profile: When you're going through hell, keep going!

Cheers,

Friday
