Single LC'ers Thanksgiving Challenge!!!

Welcome to the Single LC'ers Thanksgiving Challenge!!!
This challenge will run from Nov. 1 to Nov. 27th.

Essentially, you set your overall "Hopeful Goal", and then set a mini-weekly goal as well. We'll check in at least every Friday (and Thursday the 27th for the final check in) - but feel free to check in as often as you would like. If there's anything we all learned from the last challenge, it's to make sure that you're realistic with your goals, and that even if you don't reach your hopeful goal, you've definitely worked hard to better yourself.

Good luck everyone...and I wish you all luck!

(Make sure to include your beginning weight and/or inches - whichever you're hoping to focus on - so that we can see the progress over time.)

I will check in Saturday morning with specific goals. Off the top of my head, I'd like to lose 15 lbs. I figure since I have some water weight on from massive cheating, that should be doable. But we'll see what I weigh in as on Saturday morning. For my exercise, I'd like to do the four-week FirmBelievers Beginner's rotation. It's a four-week rotation using the new the 3 Firm Basics video workouts. They use weights and aerobics. By Thanksgiving - I will have 11 workouts in, and the day after I will finish that rotation and be ready for more! :D

Cori - that sounds like an awesome exercise program!!! Will you let me know how it works for you, and maybe I'll incorporate that into the New Years Challenge?!

Oh yeah - I also want to (by Thanksgiving) start working out to my Pilates tapes. I've been working on them a bit - but not enough to even count. Maybe I'll incorporate that into my 3rd week mini-goal. :)

I think I'll reset my Halloween goal to thanksgiving. Stalled at 214. Let's see, 255-214=41 lbs lost since May 15. And the first time in nearly 30 years that I haven't experienced heartburn after every meal--last time I took a pepsid was nearly a month ago. That's worth giving thanks.

Hey Az - it's great to have you join us! So you're hoping to make it to 197 lbs. by Thanksgiving?

I had the same problem - the first couple of weeks, I lost weight like crazy - and then I stalled big time. I have the feeling that the woosh fairy will be visiting us all very soon! :D

It's good to have the good 'ol gang continuing on!!! :D (hee hee - it's also good to see that we're all making more realistic goals this time....hahaha)

OK-I am in, but I don't want to set any goals until after weigh in tomorrow. I need to see where I am at. Actually, if I get close enough to goal-I am quitting smoking-so that might be a good challenge.

korry1977 Thu, Oct-30-03 12:29

Yeah, I think I will set my "hopeful" goal when I find out my weight tommorow... For now, my major academic goal is pass this exam on Nov 20th... (See my study scheme in my journal! (and then try to tell me I am not insane!)) Other than that I would like to see a 3 - 5 lb loss every week.

Thanks,
Korry

P.S. The cool looking banners is what sold me

Paleo:

Wow! Your quitting smoking! That is great news... You really are a SuperHeroine! <<<insert Wonder woman remix song here>>> You really don't need to be a superheroine to beat cigarretes, though... I hear the patch works for many... I quit when I started Atkins back on 9/3/2003 and I have cravings that peaked on 3rd and 4th day... After the first week it was downhill (but still there) Then after the 2nd week, I knew I had it beat....

My advice... Water, Water, Water.... I drowned my worries away in water... (and not that "fire water" some people tend to drown their sorrows in  ) I consumed about anywhere from 80 - 100 oz of water a day... I think drinking out of water bottle helped psychologically (for me anyway... ) I refrained from coffee the first two weeks, because cigarrette and coffee used to be hand-in-hand for me... However, I do find myself drinking the occasional coffee (Tea is now my primary choice.) Exercise helped also...

Have a good one,
Korry

P.S. Safe journey on your smoking cessation. ;)

I would like to join

Starting weight:297
Wishful Goal: To be under 280.

More Realistic Goals: (Or should I say plans of attack?)

1. Keep between 20-30 grams of carbs
2. Drink 4 liters of water
3. Exercise at least 3 times a week for 20 minutes
4. Limit sweets to two drinks, and maybe 1 small low carb treat ever other day
5. Writes one nice thing about me or my day in her Journal every day :D

I wish all the best and lets all be cheerleaders :D :yay:

Paleoanth Thu, Oct-30-03 15:13

Thanks Korry-all good advice! Nice to know there will be someone on the challenge that will understand. I am actually planning on getting the gum or lozenges. I think I need to have something in the mouth psychologically (SHUT UP everybody!) I ain't never giving up coffee.

Lessara-nice to see you join us!
