always an autoimmune disease present?

I was reading through one of the links of interest and was alarmed when it was mentioned that there is always an autoimmune disease present that results in Candida overgrowth. I don't think I have an autoimmune disease--I thought that it could occur b/c of dietary and stress influences as well. Any comments on this?...

not an authority on this! But I have lupus. I've also heard it can be hard to tell which came first, the autoimmune disease or the yeast! In my case my lupus symptoms began when I was 13, after I'd had a year on prednisone and antibiotics for a serious allergic reaction. I get the lupus rash on my face every spring, with major fatigue and joint pain.

Guess what? This year I'm doing an anti-candida plan and I've had NO lupus symptoms! I've been spending an hour or two in the sun everyday and I have no swelling, rash, pain, fatigue....I wonder if I'm cured. I mean this is the first good spring in 15 years.

I think you'd know if you had an autoimmune disease. especially with bodybuilding! You'd feel like garbage and not know why.

Again, not an expert! I've read that yeast can be blamed for autism, schizophrenia, autoimmune disease, obesity...but you're treating it now, right? If you have no reason to suspect that you have a chronic illness, I wouldn't worry!

take care!

Hi muscledoc,

Candida is caused by high-carbohydrate, low-fat, low-protein diets and not by autoimmune diseases. One can have an autoimmune disease without Candida or have Candida without an autoimmune disease. The low-carbohydrate diet is the cure for Candida with other restrictions. See my web page at:
