Measuring Success
For the past 3 weeks my weight has been at a distressing level and just subbornly refused to move. Yet I feel good about myself. Why?
Well, I've realised over the years that my body has no upper limit on weight gain. Whenever I stop trying, I just get bigger & bigger. Even though my struggle seems never ending, I look around me and see friends who I envied 5 years ago who are now much bigger than I am. Even though I have not succeeded in losing as I would wish, I did succeed in maintaining within a reasonable range and that's a very good thing. No matter how much you wish to lose, the next time you start to beat yourself up, take out a pencil and paper and calculate all the weight you would have GAINED if you had stopped trying. Then measure your success. |
