Not hungry???

Well i have been on 'induction' since 3/1. I was cheating a bit here n there from 3/1 to 3/9. So officially on 3/11 I HAVE STARTED CHEATFREE!!! YEAH :yay:

Well yesterday i noticed i ate for breakfast 1 sausage patty, and lunch i ate sausages, peppers, onions w/ mozzarella AND AFTER THAT I DIDNT EAT ALL NIGHT, NOR ANY BREAKFAST TODAY!!! AND IM NOT HUNGRY EITHER????

I know i NEED to eat!! That is how the diet works right? Is this normal? What do i do, just eat anyway even if im not hungry? Maybe a small portion of SOMETHING i should eat???

Eat! :)

But that lack of hunger is really a gift, so cherish it and make good choices about what to eat. You don't have to eat alot, but eat so that your body is getting enough protein, fat & nutrients to sustain you.

Congrats on doing so well!

Valerie

Wow, good for you! I am glad you feel so good, it is a great feeling isn't it?.....

dreamnfae Wed, Mar-17-04 09:01

Isn't it fantastic to not be absolutely RAVENOUS???!?!

Great job, and congratulations on being cheat free! You go girl!!!!

My Dr. told me - all Atkins does is kill your appetite. HA! He doesn't realize what a freedom that is! Freedom from eating, freedom from obsessing over what I'm going to ear next, freedom from guilt. It's unbelieveable! This must be how naturally thin people relate to food. No wonder they don't understand being overweight!

I agree - EAT! Eating regular meals is key in this WOL.

Beware of those onions though - high carb!

WTG!!

what? did i hear correct? NO ONIONS??? I could die!!! Are onions that bad?
Well today i ordered a nice big lunch. Its been 24 hours w/ no food!! I ordered a salad w/ onions (oops), tomatoe and cucumber AND sausage, peppers, onions (oops again) and mozarella!! mmmm i can taste it now!

Rocky_Cdn Wed, Mar-17-04 12:37

Not NO onions!! Just watch, they're on the higher carb side!!! I love them too and would tend to overdo them. I just make sure I count them in with the 1 cup of "other vegetables" allowed. It's easy to overlook them otherwise.

Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you!

P.S. Did you skip breakfast? Shame shame! :nono:

Ellen-mom Wed, Mar-17-04 14:39

Wow, it sounds like you are doing great. Isn't it nice to have an eating program that doesn't make you feel like you're starving!!!

BUTTERBALL Wed, Mar-17-04 17:15

It sure is! So i can have onions? I looked at akins.com for the carb count on onions, and it said (i believe) a small onion has like 7 carbs....

Well if im eating onion in a salad or on an italian hotdog, how to 'guess' how many carbs are there????? It shouldnt be THAT much now right??

pixy_nixy Wed, Mar-17-04 19:34

You're doing wonderful. Congrats!

Welcome Butterball, congrats on being cheatfree. Really, being cheatfree is the only way to be successful on this WOL.

It is very normal to lose your appetite once you are fully in ketosis. Ketosis is one of the strongest appetite suppressants in the world. It works better than any diet pill on the market and it is free! Make sure you eat though, it is very easy to forget to eat, I do it all the time.

Green onions are better and lower in carbs than the white...but I know how you feel, it has been really hard for me to give up my onions in everything :)....I just use enough to garnish these days.

DerBlumers Thu, Mar-18-04 18:38

I hear you....loud and clear. I don't usually feel hunger pangs if I don't eat the carbs. It's those carbs that wreak havoc with my blood sugar...upward spikes followed by downward tumbles....then I would get those "climb the wall" cravings....and I'd know I was in trouble!! ;) I'm diabetic, and back in 1995 the dietitian put me on the standard ADA diet....and told me that when the "low" comes, eat a piece of hard candy or something with sugar to boost the low. None of this ever worked for me because I was always having those feelings...but when I started a low carb plan...I had no such feelings...they all disappeared....thus, I felt no hunger pangs. I literally have to remind myself to eat at times....

Consider it a blessing that you don't have the hunger pangs as often....it has to do with eating less carbs...which stimulate more...and more....and more...etc..... ;)
