TOM weight swing

Is it actually possible to have a weight swing of 7-8 lbs during your TOM?

I know I felt bloated and drank a ton of water, but can your weight really swing that drastically in 5-6 days?

I'm actually new to weighing myself and I read to weigh yourself every day then average it out, or to just weigh yourself once a week.

Which is a better technique for women?

Thanks in advance all!

Yes, Lil, it's very possible to swing that much during TOM (and not during TOM for that fact). Fat cells don't just hold fat, they hold water, and when your hormonal balance changes those cells can grab on to more water. The more you weigh, the bigger the swing will be, relatively speaking. When I first started I would see a change of up to 8-9 lbs, and now it's more like 2-3.

Whichever technique causes you the least stress is the better one. If you can handle the daily fluctuations then stick with daily - if not, go with weekly, heck go with monthly :)

Do fat cells permanently disappear with weight loss? I mean do their empty cells stick around even after you've lost the fat? I have heard of this case and it scares me. If that's true, it would mean that even if I was thinner, I'd still get just as bloated because those empty cells get filled up with water during that TOM for an example..

The fat cells you made it out of adolescence with are the fat cells you're stuck with - short of liposuction. You can grow new ones as an adult, but you cannot 'lose' them.

I don't think you would continue to bloat up the same amount as you did at your heaviest - I know I don't and I've lost a lot of fat.
