lc milk???? Can I have...

Can I have lc milk. Our Walmart is carrying the lc soy milk. The choc. is great. It has 3 carbs...I bet that is net carbs. Can I have a 1/2 of cup ya think? Have any of you tried it? When I did CAD the first time AS didn't seem to bother me. I am trying to stay away from most, but would really like some of this milk once in awhile. (It has been a big step to give up diet soda!) :p

Also why doesn't cad take out the fiber for the carb count? That affects insulin so you would think you could take it out.

Also I was reading the cheat sheet and was alittle confused. Can I have say 1c of cauliflower and 1/2 green beans and be ok? I understood you could have a large amount of veggies as long as none of them had more than 4 carbs per serving. Am I wrong or did CALP cahnge that?

I was told no, not to have it outside of RM and the 15 min coffee alowment. I tried it once with a meal and did feel unsatisfied after the meal. Since I can only have milk with RM anyway, I stopped spending os much on the LC milk and now just have goat's milk with the kids.

The reason CAD doesn't subtract fiber is they feel for a carb addict all carbs count, including the fiber.

As for the veggies, it is my understanding you can have as many veggies as you want at CM, but to keep portions realistic and stop when no longer hungry. Make sure to have protien as well.

I have read CAD and am reading through CALP now. These are mostly what I was told on the forum here and from CAD.

pre3-- personally, I'd leave it to RM, if at all. Everybody's different, though, so I guess you can go ahead and try a bit at CM and see what happens.

The Heller's pretty much say in the book, if it is not on the list for CM foods, just assume you can't have it. Like Potatofree said tho, everyone is different and you might get by with it. You can always give it a try and if you find you are having cravings, or you get stalled on your weight loss, that would be the first thing to dump. I doubt if you will have cravings, because I know people on Atkins are drinking the LC milk now too.

The one thing I was wondering about the rules of CAD/CALP, these books are getting kind of old now and LC-ing is really changing as far as products. They didn't have all the LC stuff like they do now when the Heller's wrote the CAD/CALP books. Everytime you turn around they have something new on the market.

I have always made it a rule of mine to just keep my CM's sort of simple. That way you can't get into any trouble. :wiggle:

The Hellers are very big on 'real food'; there is a FAQ on their website that talks about protein powders and why to avoid them. In a nutshell...they believe our bodies need to be nourished on real food. They are also very much opposed to artificial sweeteners, even at RM. Mind you, I still use AS on occasion, and I have been using Carb Countdown instead of cream in my daily coffee because it's lower in calories than cream.

I guess I am a hypocrite, because even though I am not 100% faithful to their teaching, I still hope they don't cave in to commercialism and start promoting low carb products, most of which is overpriced junk food, in their next book. Real food really is best.
